🌊 Happy World Oceans Day! 💙
Nearly 40% of the world’s population lives within 100 km of a coastline, making ocean monitoring essential for protecting coastal communities, safeguarding marine ecosystems, and building a more resilient future.
Covering more than 70% of Earth’s surface, the ocean is fundamental to life on our planet. It supports diverse ecosystems, sustains livelihoods, and plays a critical role in regulating the global climate system.
The IEEE GRSS supports research, innovation, and standards that advance the generation, distribution, and use of interoperable Earth observation data products. Within GRSS, the Standards for Earth Observation (GSEO) Technical Committee fosters the development and promotion of technical standards for Earth-observing systems and products, helping improve the adoption and usability of remote sensing data across science, industry, and society.
