2:30pm Update: A TORNADO WATCH has been issued for all in green for this afternoon and evening.

While the tornado risk is not particularly high, there will be a chance for a few rotating storms this evening. Storms will develop south of I-44 by 4-5pm and move NE.

A tornado threat exists across parts of Oklahoma today, with the first round of storms possible as early as midday and the higher-end severe weather threat increasing late this afternoon into this evening. That is when the best chance for tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds is expected, especially across eastern Oklahoma.

Not everyone will see severe weather, but any storm that becomes strong could turn dangerous quickly. Stay weather aware through the afternoon and tonight, and make sure you have a way to get warnings fast.

🚨 TORNADO WATCH 🚨 mostly for areas West of the Tulsa Metro.

A few tornadoes and a couple intense tornadoes possible Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 3.5 inches in diameter likely Scattered damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts to 75 mph possible

Supercells that develop this afternoon and evening will likely pose a threat for large to very large hail initially. With time this evening, the threat for a few tornadoes should gradually increase with any thunderstorms that can remain at least semi-discrete.
Scattered severe/damaging winds may also occur with any clusters that can eventually form and spread northeastward through the evening. Peak gusts may reach up to 65-75 mph.

Another Day!
Wednesday is a day to watch across Oklahoma.

The latest SPC outlook shows a tornado risk in place, especially across parts of central and western Oklahoma, with severe storms also capable of producing large hail and damaging winds. Right now, the setup appears supportive of isolated supercells developing along the dryline during the afternoon and evening. SPC says “a couple of tornadoes also will be possible,” with large to very large hail also a concern.

Not everyone will see severe weather, but if storms can form and stay organized, a few could become strong quickly. We’ll be watching storm development, timing, and any areas that get upgraded as confidence improves.

Oh Hail! Heads up, Oklahoma! storms are expected to develop later this afternoon into this evening, and large hail looks like the main concern for many areas. Some of the strongest storms could produce very large hail, especially across western, central, and parts of northern Oklahoma.

Not everyone will see severe weather, but any storm that forms could become strong quickly. Stay weather aware this afternoon and tonight, and make sure you have a way to get warnings.
