Hutson had a vision to educate the world on the prevention and treatment of Triple Negative Breast Cancer. She passed away from the disease on May 6, 2010. Rhonda was truly an inspiration to the world. She wanted us to keep her legacy alive by educating the world about Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Triple-negative breast cancer is a subtype of breast cancer that is clinically negative for express
ion of estrogen and progesterone receptors (ER/PR) and HER2 protein. Its unique molecular profile, aggressive behavior, distinct patterns of metastasis, and lack of targeted therapies characterize it. About 10-20% of breast cancers are found to be triple-negative. A study done in 2007 on more than 50,000 women with all stages of breast cancer found that 77% of women with triple-negative breast cancer survived at least 5 years, versus 93% of women with other types of breast cancer. The goal of the Rhonda K. Hutson Foundation is to gain the knowledge and identify the barriers of Triple Negative Breast Cancer and create new solutions. As well as support our community and offer aid to families affected. Our Annual Gala allows us to continue this support!
