Congratulations are in order!

The University of Tulsa announced Monday that former Cherokee Nation Supreme Court Justice Stacy Leeds would become the university's new president starting July 1.

Leeds is a TU law school alumna who was the first woman to serve as a justice on the Cherokee Nation's highest court from 2002 to 2006. She has also served as a judge or justice for other tribes, including The Muscogee Nation.

The 2026 John Marley Scholarship applications are now open! The deadline to apply is June 5. All applications must be made electronically.

Remember:

If you are applying for the Employee Scholarship, you must hold an active gaming license issued by the applicable tribal gaming commission/regulatory authority and the license must be in good standing (not suspended or revoked) as of the application deadline.

If you are applying for the Student Scholarship, you must be the child/dependent of a tribal casino industry employee in the State of Oklahoma. The parent or legal guardian must hold an active gaming license issued by the applicable tribal gaming commission/regulatory authority and the license must be in good standing (not suspended or revoked) as of the application deadline.

The Cherokee Nation celebrated its new north Tulsa Cherokee Community Center with a ribbon cutting last week. at 4,000 sf, it's got meeting spaces, a kitchen and more.

Located at 1205 E. 46th St. N., Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr.. said opening the $2 million center was a defining moment for both him and the people he represents.
