Areawide Aging Agency is pleased to announce the upcoming release of the Request for Applications (RFA) for the Community Expansion of Nutrition Assistance (CENA) Grant Program. Applications will be open May 27,2026 until June 12, 2026 at 5pm. ***updated extended until June 26th, 2026 at 12noon. ***

The CENA Grant is an Oklahoma state-funded program administered through the Oklahoma Department of Commerce in partnership with local Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) and Councils of Government. The purpose of the grant is to support senior centers and expand nutrition and supportive services for older adults throughout Oklahoma communities. Eligible organizations who are multipurpose centers/senior centers are encouraged to apply for funding to support programs and services benefiting adults age 60 and older. Funding may be used for a variety of operational and program-related expenses, including but not limited to:

Senior meals and nutrition programs
Food purchases
Utilities
Kitchen and facility equipment
Building maintenance and repairs
Insurance
Transportation related to senior services
Other operational support for senior centers

Additional application deadlines, eligibility requirements, and submission instructions will be provided within the official RFA packet upon release.

Areawide Aging Agency encourages all eligible organizations serving older adults to participate in this funding opportunity.

Areawide Aging Agency is requesting applications for the following services: Health Promotions in Oklahoma, Canadian, Cleveland, and Logan county; Legal Assistance and Education in Oklahoma, Canadian, Cleveland, and Logan county; Congregate and home delivered meals, nutritional counseling, and nutritional education in Oklahoma, Canadian, and Logan county; Homemaker services in Oklahoma, Canadian, and Logan county; Supportive Services for Low Vision in Oklahoma, Canadian, Cleveland, and Logan county.
Applications are due by 4:00 pm, March 3rd, 2026. For further inquiries, contact [email protected].
Application packets will be available February 3rd at 8:00 am and will end February 19th, 2026, at 5:00 pm. Pick up is at 4101 Perimeter Center Drive, Suite 310, OKC, OK 73112, or available via email ([email protected]).
Applicants must attend the Proposer Conference (in-person) at Areawide on February 20th, at 9:30 am to be considered for funding.

🎄✨ Christmas Cheer at Areawide ✨🎄
The holiday spirit is in full swing at Areawide! From our festive door decorating contest and fun-filled Ugly Sweater Day to celebrating together at our Christmas luncheon at VAST, our office has been overflowing with joy, laughter, and teamwork.

🍂 As the Days Get Shorter, Your Mood Might Too… Let’s Talk About SAD 💛

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is more than just the “winter blues.”
It’s a form of depression that affects many older adults as daylight decreases and it’s important to recognize the signs early.

Common Symptoms:
• Low energy or fatigue
• Sadness or irritability
• Trouble concentrating
• Sleep changes
• Loss of interest in activities you enjoy

🌞 Helpful Tips to Boost Your Mood:
• Get outside during daylight hours
• Keep a consistent sleep schedule
• Stay connected with friends and family
• Try light therapy or talk with your doctor about treatment options
