Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) was a Brooklyn-born artist who broke barriers with his neo-expressionist works that challenged the status quo of the art world. His work still resonates today, and his grave remains one of the most visited in Green-Wood. (Lot 44603, Grave 342, Sec. 176/183)
Join us THIS WEEKEND for BLACK IN BROOKLYN, a walking tour in celebration of Black History Month. You’ll visit Basquiat’s grave, as well as those of other Black New Yorkers who challenged segregation and racism with a commitment to diversity, progress, and activism. February 27th and 28th at 11am.
