Live Free USA stands with Live Free Indiana , Black Church Coalition , and more than 30 community leaders in Martindale-Brightwood who refuse to be silenced. ✊🏾

Metrobloks wants millions in public tax incentives to build a data center in their neighborhood. Meanwhile, the community benefits agreement that’s supposed to protect residents has been negotiated behind closed doors by a small group. The people who’ll live next to this project haven’t seen the terms.

That’s not a partnership. You can’t censor a community out of a deal that’s built with its own tax dollars.

Indy’s faith leaders, organizers, and neighbors are demanding a real seat at the table. We’re asking our network across the country to show up for them.

$393 million in public money for a data center, in a neighborhood that has said no for a year. Martindale Brightwood’s fight is every community’s fight.

We stand with Live Free Indiana and the neighbors calling on One Voice Martindale-Brightwood to publicly oppose this incentive package. Residents need leadership, not concessions.

Indianapolis, be at Frederick Douglass Park this Wednesday, October 7 at 5:30 PM. Tell Metrobloks and IEDI: no handouts for greedy corporations.

Happy Birthday to Pastor Michael McBride 🎉🖤

Some people come once in a lifetime, and Pastor Mike is one of them.

Father. Brother. Pastor. Leader. Executive Director. And so much more.

The titles are only part of it. So much of what he does happens where no one sees it: the late nights, the hard calls, the quiet ways he shows up for people. He’s selfless. He fights every day for our people and for us. His time is committed to the work, and so is his life.

More than anything, it’s his impact on us all. So many of us are standing stronger because he chose to stand with us.

Today we want you to feel the love you’ve given us all year long. We celebrate you, we honor you, and we thank God for you.

Happy Birthday, Pastor Mike. We love you.

We know Mississippi.

Our ancestors knew it. Emmett Till was 14 when they pulled him out of the Tallahatchie River, and the men who killed him walked free after a jury deliberated for about an hour.

For generations we’ve been told “no proof,” “no crime,” “nothing to see here,” and for generations we’ve had to fight for the truth ourselves.

So when an 18-year-old Black boy goes out to celebrate the Fourth of July and never comes home, we don’t just hear a headline. We see our sons, our nephews, our little brothers.

Nolan Wells was somebody’s baby, with parents, family, friends and a whole life to live.

His cause of death is still “undetermined.” The injuries to his head are still unexplained.

Our people have never stopped asking questions just because the state said to. We won’t start now.

“Had somebody not intervened with me that night, I would have been gone.”

Jabee said that to a room full of violence interputers in Foxborough this week, people who show up for strangers at 2am, who talk someone down before it becomes a headline, who measure success by what doesn’t happen.

We imagine a world where the story is for the shooting that didn’t happen. The funeral that didn’t happen. The young person who’s still here because someone showed up.

That’s the work. That’s LIVE FREE Oklahoma. That’s community as the strategy.
