Official Statement to Our Partners, Supporters, and Friends
Dear Partners, Supporters, and Friends of Isaiah 54 Project,
Grace and peace to you.
Over the past several months, many of you have wondered about my absence and the limited communication from our organization. I believe you deserve transparency, and I am grateful for the patience, prayers, and unwavering support that so many of you have extended during one of the most challenging seasons of my life.
For the past nine months I have endured an unexpected and difficult journey that included prolonged immigration detention and legal proceedings. During this time, my family and I faced circumstances that tested our faith, resilience, and hope in ways we never imagined. There were moments when the future seemed uncertain, yet through every challenge, God remained faithful.
Today, I am grateful to share that I have returned home to my children, family, and community. While the experience was deeply painful, it also transformed me. What was intended to silence and discourage has instead strengthened my resolve and clarified Godβs purpose for the next chapter of Isaiah 54 Project.
One of the most profound aspects of this journey was the opportunity to meet people from every walk of life whose stories are rarely heard. I met individuals whose only offense was becoming homeless due to illness, the loss of employment, family crises, or other personal hardships. I encountered men and women who had experienced unimaginable trauma, yet continued to hold on to hope. These experiences opened my eyes even further to the systemic challenges facing vulnerable populations and deepened my conviction that compassion, advocacy, and practical support are desperately needed.
This season has renewed our commitment to the mission God entrusted to us: restoring dignity, empowering vulnerable communities, and advocating for those whose voices are often unheard. My personal experience has given me a firsthand understanding of the challenges faced by immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and families navigating complex systems while trying to preserve their humanity and hope.
As a result, Isaiah 54 Project will be expanding its focus to include stronger advocacy efforts and refugee and immigrant support initiatives alongside our existing programs. We believe that every person deserves dignity, compassion, justice, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives.
The Lord has reminded us through this journey that our mission is not merely about providing servicesβit is about standing in the gap for those who are vulnerable, forgotten, and displaced. We are more committed than ever to being a voice for the voiceless and a source of practical support for those in need.
I am especially thankful for those whose faith did not waver when my own strength was beginning to fail. Your prayers, encouragement, generosity, and belief in our mission sustained us through countless difficult days. Many of you carried us when we could not carry ourselves.
Please stay tuned for announcements regarding the resumption of our weekly outreach initiatives, community engagement activities, and new advocacy programs. We are prayerfully preparing for this next season and look forward to reconnecting with and serving our communities in meaningful ways.
As my children and I begin the process of healing and rebuilding, I humbly ask for your continued prayers. This journey has come at a tremendous personal cost, yet we remain confident that the God who carried us through these past nine months and six days will also sustain us as we rebuild.
We are trusting the Lord to restore what has been lost, strengthen what has been broken, and use this experience to bring hope and transformation to others facing similar challenges. Your prayers, encouragement, and partnership mean more to us than words can adequately express.
As Scripture reminds us:
βWait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.β β Psalm 27:14
And again:
βI would have lost heart unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.β β Psalm 27:13
I have witnessed that goodness firsthand.
Thank you for your continued partnership, friendship, and prayers. The best chapters of this mission are still ahead.
With gratitude and renewed purpose,
Charity G. Mukamuri
