Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Awareness starts with understanding that domestic violence affects more than the person experiencing abuse—it can impact entire families, especially children.

Every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and heard. By learning the signs, supporting survivors, and speaking up when something isn’t right, we can help create safer communities for children and families.

This month, let’s choose awareness, compassion, and action.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day

Today, we honor and celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, histories, and contributions of Indigenous peoples and communities.

As we advocate for children and families, we recognize the importance of honoring each child’s identity, culture, heritage, and connections. Every child deserves to know where they come from, feel a sense of belonging, and have their story respected.

Today and every day, we listen, learn, honor, and celebrate Indigenous voices and communities.

Sometimes, the most important thing we can give a child is the space to be heard, the reassurance that they matter, and a safe person who will keep showing up.

Children in foster care may face experiences that can affect their emotional well-being in ways we can’t always see. That’s why having caring, consistent adults in their corner matters.

At CASA of Oklahoma County, we believe every child deserves to feel heard, supported, and valued. 💚

Let’s make mental health part of the conversation—not just today, but every day.

There’s nothing quite like a child’s smile to remind us why this work matters. Every child deserves moments filled with joy, laughter, and people who believe in them.

A smile may seem small, but sometimes it can make a BIG difference ✨

Because every child deserves a reason to smile 🫶

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month 💜

Behind every statistic is a person, a family, and often a child.

At CASA of Oklahoma County, we know that children can be deeply impacted by domestic violence. We’re committed to advocating for their safety, well-being, and best interests—while reminding our community that support, awareness, and compassion matter.

💜 Break the silence. Believe survivors. Protect children. Be part of the change.

For the past 2.5 years, Crystal has dedicated her time and heart to advocating for children as a CASA volunteer.

Her interest in CASA began years ago after hearing a CASA volunteer speak at a Lions Club meeting. The mission stayed with her until she finally had the opportunity to become a volunteer.

One of the most meaningful parts of Crystal’s CASA journey has been watching her relationships with her CASA children grow from suspicion to trust and affection, while seeing them blossom in safer, more stable environments.

Her advice to new volunteers: give yourself time to learn, trust your supervisor, be honest and unbiased, and never walk away from your commitment to the children.

We are so grateful for Crystal’s dedication, consistency, and heart. Thank you for being a constant presence when it matters most! 💙

Congratulations, Crystal! 👏✨
