Four AFR Youth members traveled to Washington D.C. this week to participate in the National Farmer’s Union All State’s Leadership Summit. Larahmy Blakely, who is serving on the 2025-2026 NFU Youth Advisory Council, was joined by Taryn McCaa, Addyson Schneberger and Darla Fesmire. While at the summit, members networked with other Farmer’s Union members and staff from across the United States working through policy, communication workshops, touring local agricultural operations and exploring the history of our Nation’s Capitol. Highlight stops included the Senate building, Dogwood Farm - a multi-generational and the only dairy left in Loudoun County, VA and a founding member of their local Co-op over 100 years ago, and the Ag District - a local winery and restaurant that sources all their products local, growing all of their own grapes, cheeses and produce that they utilize in their business.

Exams are over and young leaders from Oklahoma are embarking on internship experiences all across the country to learn how they can best serve their communities in a professional setting. We would like to wish safe travels and best of luck to everyone traveling for internships this summer. We extend special well wishes to long time AFR member Heath Laubach from Mooreland as he heads to Washington D.C. to serve as an intern for the USDA under U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins. We are proud to support the next generation of agricultural leaders as they build skills to shape not only their futures, but the communities they will serve!
