To promote positive awareness in celebration of movement and music through the dances of North Africa, Southwest Asia, Turkey, and Greece, and to empower individuals by providing an authentic and inclusive learning environment.

Wednesday 7:30-8:30 - Yoga/Pilates with Ayperi and Najma
Thursday 6:00-7:00 - Open Level Drills & Combos with Ayperi
Sunday 3:00-4:00 - Sunday Slow Down with Jahara

Introducing our Summer Workshops & Hafla! Kata Maya and Ayperi will be teaching, as well as two special guest artists Ryan Taylor and Marjan!

Classes will be held at Aalim Dance Academy June 27-28. We will have a hafla Saturday night. Contact Ayperi if you would like to perform.

Schedule of events:

Fusion Combos with Kata Maya - June 27, 10:00-12:00 pm - This workshop allows students to learn Kata Maya’s approach to fusion, from acknowledging the different dance style’s background, to proper balance between the dance styles. Good for intermediate-advanced dancers.

Zills! Rhythm & Movement with Marjan - June 27, 1:30-3:30 pm - Explore the fun and rhythm of zills (finger cymbals) in this all-levels class! Students will learn foundational zill patterns, simple dance combinations, and techniques for integrating zill playing smoothly into movement. Perfect for beginners and experienced dancers looking to build confidence, coordination, and musicality.

Hafla - June 27, 7:30 pm - An opportunity for dancers to showcase their art! Ryan will join us for live drumming! Let Ayperi know by June 20 if you would like to perform. Performers must register for at least one of the Summer Workshops.

Confident Improvisation with Ayperi, June 28, 10:00-12:00 pm - Does improvisation give you major anxiety? Ayperi will guide dancers through her approach to improvisation. She will also lead breathing techniques to help calm the nervous system for stepping confidently in the middle of the dance circle or on stage. Soften, let the music come in the ears and out the body, let go!

5 Elements with Ryan Taylor, June 28, 1:30-3:30 pm - Ryan Taylor brings you the 5-Element Drumming and Human Design experience, a powerful practice rooted in the wisdom of the Dagara tribe of West Africa. We will explore our open creativity surrounding the properties of each element through dance and vocal expressions. No previous dance experience necessary.

$50.00/class or the full weekend for $175.00. No refunds, no exchanges.

Wanna know how to do this? Come to Intro to Bellydance Wednesdays at 6:15 to learn the foundations needed for performing! Not interested in performing? No worries, there’s no pressure to perform! Just come and dance!

Aalim is excited to collaborate with for a wonderful day of art on Tuesday, May 26th!

📍 Art House on 4th, 829 NW 4th Street, OKC

12:00-6:30 pm - Still Life Session & Surface Tension with Udit - come and go still life painting/drawing session, plus peruse the current exhibition Surface Tension

6:30-7:30 pm - Artist Talk by Udit Harper Gorman: Artist Aphantasia, Pareidolia and Her Creative Process

7:30-8:30 pm - Drawing the Dance with &
- an hour long bellydance show by the incredible professional and competition troupes of Aalim, specifically for artist who wish to capture their loveliness in motion, interspersed with short, gestural poses

All day: silent auction of selected works by various artists and raffle tickets to Aalim classes, benefiting Art House on 4th and Aalim

Free admission, donations welcome, tips encouraged. *Specifically tips for the dancers will benefit Aalim’s new sign fundraiser!

Easels will be at the ready.

Dynamic and sensual ORIENTAL ROUTINE with veil in Mercedes’s signature style - musicality, expressions, layering of styles and techniques. (dedicated intermediate to pro level)

Sunday, September 27, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm - Dance Poetry
Inspiring ideas and poetic combinations based on Mercedes’s expressive style, using the creative connection between words and movements. (all levels from intermediate to up)

Sunday, September 27, 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm - Nymph Training
Intensive technique and creativity training for dedicated dancers. (from intermediate to advanced or pro)
