Oklahoma Family Equestrians

Oklahoma Family Equestrians The primary goal of OFE is to support and encourage all those we encounter. OFE members will always strive to reach out and support Everyone is welcome to join.

Together we form a network comprised of individuals, families and other equestrian organizations. Oklahoma Family Equestrians share a common love for horses and riding the Oklahoma Trails! Our membership consists of families and individuals from all walks of life, ages and experiences. We are always open to learning new things and encourage participation from the entire family, including our child

ren. There is something for everyone in the family within this group! OFE members also have the opportunity to ride in parades. Rather than form a separate team, OFE works directly with the Legacy of Oklahoma Victory Equestrians (L.O.V.E.) under the Directorship of Phyllis Dragus. If you are interested in joining us on the parade route, please contact Ms. Dragus directly for membership requirements and information. This is a FUN team and they have a long running history of 1st place showings. Their page may be found here: http://www.facebook.com/LOVEParades2010.

Putting together a ride at Liberty Lake. BIS at 2pm. This will be a cleanup, trimming and marking ride. So come and go as you please. I'll make the loop around the lake and trim as needed as I go. It will be slow and leisure. If I have time I'll go around again. ;) Anyone is welcome. Weather will be in the 60's so dress appropriately. Bring trash bags, pruners, hand saw, loppers if you like; not required but appreciated. There is no water so be sure to pack in what you need.

Liberty Lake was great. It's overgrown in a couple of areas, could use some 'pruning' rides. You absolutely cannot get lost. There was only one major incline but it was easy for the horses the way the trail was cut into the hill. It had a decline in the same area and one major water crossing where the water went up to their knees. If you are riding a real short horse they may get their belly wet. Our horses are 15 hands and they did great. Overall it was easy to navigate and fun. It's a 2-3 hour ride depending on pace of your horse.

Jeff and I are riding at Liberty Lake south of Guthrie. BIS is 3pm. It's easy to get to. Take the Seward Rd. Exit 151 off I-35. Go west on Seward Rd. It's only about 3-4 miles off the highway. Seward road will curve to the north and then the park is on your left. The permit is $2 per person over the age of sixteen. It only has 5 miles of shore lines so I don't think it will take more than a couple of hours to ride. I have never been on these trails so it may be interesting.

I will be out of pocket until 2pm. We have a class at Langston university that we are attending. If you are planning on attending, just show up.
