Oklahoma Compost and Sustainability Association Official page for the Oklahoma Compost and Sustainability Association (OCASA)

The Oklahoma Compost and Sustainability Association (OCASA) first started in 2015 as the Oklahoma Compost Conference planning committee, then became a non-profit in January 2021. Our goal continues to be to open discussions about how compost can benefit local communities, buisnesses and the environment. Our annual fall conference remains our premiere event, but we're expanding into other educational and advocacy roles as well!

LET’S COMPOST, FAMILY!

Join OKC Farmers Market District, Oklahoma County OSU Extension Service, and the Oklahoma Compost and Sustainability Association in building a 3 bin compost educational site! Participants will have the opportunity to bring their own scraps and learn how to turn your everyday waste into beautiful garden gold! Bringing scraps isn’t obligatory, but warmly encouraged. Please adhere to the above list of greens & browns that are acceptable to bring, reviewing the forbidden 🚫 list as well. This will be an amazing opportunity to construct an ecologically beneficial compost system and to be a part of the composting process.

📅Friday, August 21, 8 a.m.

There will be FREE compost available to participants while supplies last! No experience needed!

🗣️New OCASA Board Member🙌

Join us in welcoming the fabulous Lisa Roark Brewer to the OCASA board! Lisa is the Resource Recovery Manager for Fertile Ground Cooperative in OKC. She has a background in permaculture and holistic nutrition, and is also a plant based chef instructor. Lisa’s passion for growing nutritious food, cooking the harvest, and sharing it with loved ones led her to study soil health, and ultimately to the science of composting. She comes to OKC from Dallas, having worked as a vegan chef instructor at the Dallas Arboretum prior to her role as Program Director for Turn Compost, a female-owned community compost company. Lisa has lived a low-waste, low-tox lifestyle since 2015, and loves sharing her experiences with anyone who wants to learn!

We’re so happy to have you, Lisa!!!
