Exciting news! The Senate HELP Committee passed the National Plan for Epilepsy Act (S. 494) during last week's markup. This was a crucial step, and we want to thank YOU for your advocacy! Now, the bill must continue to make its way through the full Senate and House. Check out this upcoming virtual Community Engagement Studio (CE Studio)! Case Western Reserve University, Mary Ann Swetland Center CE Studios are opportunities for researchers to receive community or patient input on the development, implementation, or dissemination of a research project.
Input will help create a new educational program to support memory, brain health, and overall well-being for people with epilepsy as they age. The program will be called Healthy Aging in People with Epilepsy Program (HAP-E). They are actively seeking members of the epilepsy community to participate in the CE Studio, which will last 2 hours and takes place on Monday July 27th at 12:30 p.m. via Zoom. All participants are compensated $100 for their time.

Participation Criteria
We are looking for adults aged 55 and older who:
• Have a formal diagnosis of epilepsy and are
• Taking at least 1 anti-seizure medication

We are excited to announce that Katherine Reed will be joining the Epilepsy Foundation Oklahoma Board on July 1.
Katherine currently serves as an Advocacy Champion for the Epilepsy Foundation and works in the Medical Surgery Unit at Northeastern Health Systems. As a graduate of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, Katherine is passionate about research related to her daughter’s Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS), driven by her personal experiences throughout her daughter’s journey.
A native of Locust Grove, Katherine joins Abby Thompson and Sunnie Ennie in this year's advisory board class. We look forward to her contributions to the board and the community.

Epilepsy Foundation Oklahoma Board Member, former Sac and Fox Nation employee, and current Pottawatomie County District 3 Commissioner Abby Thompson has advanced in the Oklahoma Legislature Runoffs, receiving 18.9 percent support (1,761 votes) to finish second.
