Leadership doesn’t happen by accident. It happens in rooms like this.❤️

Last weekend, we held a leadership retreat that brought the committee chairs together for wisdom, handbook highlights, and tons of laughter between agenda items.

We are anchored in agape love for our chapter, this sisterhood, and our community, ever evolving with intention. We have internalized the theme, the vision was cast and we are ready to WORK! 🧱🚧🗳️

State Question 8️⃣4️⃣4️⃣ would create an amendment to the Oklahoma Constitution.

If passed, this measure would no longer require legislators to reimburse local towns, counties and school districts for property tax revenue. This is a significant loss to some Oklahoma school districts. Losses that can be critical.

State Question 8️⃣4️⃣6️⃣ amends the Oklahoma Constitution.

The amendment does not define what qualifies as proof of identity; it would require the state legislature to specify what would qualify as proof of identity. If passed, this measure could be considered a "modern day poll tax".

Let's talk about it on August 18th during another Pretty Devastating Conversation.

Happy !

Today we honor the legacy of the last enslaved African Americans in Texas who were finally informed of their freedom, some two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. It was those people, and the generations of Texans who came after them, who made the bold declaration to celebrate this day, marking a reality we know far too well in this country: freedom may be delayed, but it will never be denied.
Though our fight for freedom sadly continues, today we pause to celebrate and embrace the joy of our ancestors who believed in the possibilities of a more promising tomorrow. And in that joy, we remain anchored, steadfast in our pursuit of true freedom and justice for all.

VOTE YOUR VOICE!

Every year voters go to cast their ballot believing they are registered only to learn that they have been purged from the voter rolls or are unable to vote in their previous polling location. Don’t assume you are registered! It only takes a few minutes for you and your family, friends and co-workers to verify that you are registered and confirm your polling location before your vote on the OK Voter Portal.

Primary elections are where many of the most important decisions about our future begin. They determine which candidates will appear on the general election ballot and often shape the direction of policies that impact our schools, neighborhoods, healthcare, economy, and daily lives. In many communities, primary elections can be just as influential as the general election, making every vote especially important. Voting in a primary election gives citizens a direct voice in selecting the leaders who will represent their values and priorities.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the HD99 Candidate Listening Forum and discussion on State Question 832, which appears on the June 16 ballot. We were honored to partner with our Divine Nine sisters of Sigma Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. to provide an opportunity for community members to learn, engage, and make informed decisions at the ballot box.

We were also delighted to celebrate with the citizens of Midwest City at their Annual MWC Juneteenth Family Festival on June 13th. It was a wonderful day of fellowship, culture, and community as we commemorated the significance of Juneteenth and continued our commitment to civic engagement and empowerment. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared conversations, and helped make these events meaningful and impactful.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a 501(c)(7) organization and does not endorse candidates. All candidates running for office were invited to attend. This forum is for educational purposes only.
