Last week, 41 animals received spay and neuter surgeries at our vaccine clinic through our Care Connection program, made possible with the incredible team at the OK Humane Spay & Neuter Mobile Unit!

Our Care Connection Program helps bridge the gap for Oklahoma families by connecting them with essential resources and veterinary care. By making spay and neuter services more accessible, we can help prevent unplanned litters, reduce shelter overcrowding, and give more animals the chance to find loving homes before they ever enter the shelter system.

Stall rest is never easy, but when a horse is recovering from an injury, it’s often the best move for their long-term health. 🐴💙

One of the horses in our care is currently on stall rest, so we’re finding ways to keep him happy, comfortable and entertained while he heals! For horses used to living outdoors in pastures, stepping into a stall can be a big adjustment. When they can’t move around or stay with their herd, boredom and stress can set in fast.

That’s where simple stall enrichment helps bridge the gap:

🌾 Slow feeders and forage balls keep them grazing longer and mimic pasture life.
👀 A clear view of the barn keeps them feeling connected to other horses.
🧠 Low-key brain games, like simple target work, give them a job to do without adding physical strain.

Stall rest is just a temporary step on the road back to the field. A little extra mental engagement can go a long way in keeping their spirits up while their bodies heal! 🐴✨
