Allied Arts OKC Enriching Lives Through Advancement of the Arts But we do more than raise money for the arts.

Allied Arts was formed in 1971 as a way for the community to support and engage with central Oklahoma's cultural groups. A single donation to Allied Arts helps ensure that a variety of local arts organizations have the tools and resources they need to remain strong and offer quality programming to the public. Together these agencies touch the lives of more than one million people annually, including more than 600,000 arts experiences for school-age children in the last year. We promote arts education, advocate on their behalf, and raise awareness of the impact of the arts in our schools, communities and state. We also provide fundraising, technical and organizational management support to help keep our member agencies in strong financial and operating standing.

October is National Arts & Humanities Month, but around here, the arts are part of every month.

They’re in the theatre seats filled for the first time. The kid who discovers they love to dance. The mural that changes a neighborhood corner. The song, story or performance that makes someone feel a little more connected to the place they call home.

That’s what we get to celebrate all October long: the artists, organizations, audiences, students, teachers and supporters who make creativity part of everyday life in central Oklahoma.

And we’re pretty lucky to live somewhere with so much of it.

Our newest Allied Arts board members took orientation out into the community, visiting Science Museum Oklahoma, Red Earth and Oklahoma City Philharmonic to see our mission in action.

Along the way, they explored the intersection of art and science at Science Museum OK, learned how Red Earth celebrates and sustains Native art and culture, and saw how the OKC Philharmonic pairs world-class performances with educational programming that reaches 15,000 students across more than 40 counties each year.

The best way to understand the reach of Allied Arts is to experience it firsthand. We’re grateful for the leaders stepping into this work with us and helping make the arts more accessible across our community.

Sometimes the best way to understand the impact of the arts is to hear it from the people experiencing it. 💛

Access to the arts matters. Not because every child will become an artist, but because every child deserves the chance to be moved, surprised, inspired or simply filled with joy by them.

Turns out, quite a lot.

This month, Allied Arts member agencies are bringing us outdoor ballet, Shakespeare under the stars, live theatre, tap dance, comic arts, cowboy craftsmanship, painting and beading workshops, Oklahoma film, live music, family favorites, hands-on science and plenty of ways to make something yourself.

And several of these events are completely FREE.

The Oklahoma State Fair is almost here, and your visit can do more than create memories.

The fair runs September 17 through 27, but be sure to plan ahead: your OKCityCard gets you 2-for-1 adult outside gate admission at regular price when you purchase your tickets in advance at the OKC Fairgrounds Box Office between August 3 and September 16, 2026. The offer cannot be redeemed during the fair. Limit two tickets per card.

Last week, we had the privilege of joining the Oklahoma Arts Council as National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Mary Anne Carter visited Oklahoma City to experience firsthand how the arts are strengthening communities across our state.

We visited two of our partner agencies, Oklahoma Shakespeare and Oklahoma City Ballet, and left reminded that the arts are so much more than performances on a stage.

At Oklahoma Shakespeare, young artists spoke with remarkable honesty about finding confidence, friendship and their voice through theatre. Their words were thoughtful, moving and impossible to forget.

At Oklahoma City Ballet, we joined a Dance for Parkinson's class where movement became something deeper than choreography. It became connection, resilience, joy and healing.

These moments are why the arts matter.
The arts aren't separate from our communities.
They are our communities.

They're classrooms and studios, rehearsal halls and neighborhood gathering places. They're where confidence grows, healing begins and connection happens. They're where young people discover who they are, where adults find new ways to connect and where creativity reminds us of our shared humanity.

This was a beautiful reminder of that.

Thank you to Chairman Mary Anne Carter, the Oklahoma Arts Council, Oklahoma Shakespeare and Oklahoma City Ballet for sharing the incredible work happening across Oklahoma every day.
