Allied Arts was formed in 1971 as a way for the community to support and engage with central Oklahoma's cultural groups. A single donation to Allied Arts helps ensure that a variety of local arts organizations have the tools and resources they need to remain strong and offer quality programming to the public. Together these agencies touch the lives of more than one million people annually, includi

ng more than 600,000 arts experiences for school-age children in the last year. We promote arts education, advocate on their behalf, and raise awareness of the impact of the arts in our schools, communities and state. We also provide fundraising, technical and organizational management support to help keep our member agencies in strong financial and operating standing.

The Oklahoma State Fair is almost here, and your visit can do more than create memories.

The fair runs September 17 through 27, but be sure to plan ahead: your OKCityCard gets you 2-for-1 adult outside gate admission at regular price when you purchase your tickets in advance at the OKC Fairgrounds Box Office between August 3 and September 16, 2026. The offer cannot be redeemed during the fair. Limit two tickets per card.

Last week, we had the privilege of joining the Oklahoma Arts Council as National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Mary Anne Carter visited Oklahoma City to experience firsthand how the arts are strengthening communities across our state.

We visited two of our partner agencies, Oklahoma Shakespeare and Oklahoma City Ballet, and left reminded that the arts are so much more than performances on a stage.

At Oklahoma Shakespeare, young artists spoke with remarkable honesty about finding confidence, friendship and their voice through theatre. Their words were thoughtful, moving and impossible to forget.

At Oklahoma City Ballet, we joined a Dance for Parkinson's class where movement became something deeper than choreography. It became connection, resilience, joy and healing.

These moments are why the arts matter.
The arts aren't separate from our communities.
They are our communities.

They're classrooms and studios, rehearsal halls and neighborhood gathering places. They're where confidence grows, healing begins and connection happens. They're where young people discover who they are, where adults find new ways to connect and where creativity reminds us of our shared humanity.

This was a beautiful reminder of that.

You don’t have to be on stage or in a studio to be part of the arts. When you support Allied Arts, you help make creativity more accessible for all Oklahomans—whether it’s a student picking up a violin for the first time, a family attending a community theater performance or a teaching artist showing up in a rural classroom.

Each year, Allied Arts helps bring the arts to over 1 million people through almost 50 local organizations—many of which serve communities with the least access to cultural experiences.

It all adds up to a more creative, connected and vibrant Oklahoma.

Allied Arts is now accepting grant applications for Educational Outreach and Capacity-Building grants through August 4, 2026. These grants help strengthen Oklahoma’s arts ecosystem from the inside out — supporting nonprofit organizations whose programs make creativity accessible to all.

Through Educational Outreach Grants, we help fund nonprofits whose programs expand access to the arts for underserved and rural K–12 students — as well as for veterans, people receiving hospital care and people with developmental disabilities. These grants help ensure that everyone, regardless of circumstance or location, can experience the transformative power of the arts beyond city centers, classrooms and stages.

Through Capacity-Building Grants, we help fund arts and cultural nonprofits working to grow stronger — supporting projects like board development, volunteer training, strategic planning and professional development. These grants provide the resources organizations need to sustain their missions and expand their impact.
