Dear Noble Friends,
We hope this letter finds you well. As members of the Buddhist community, we are writing to you today to request your support for a cause that aligns with the values of generosity and compassion that are at the heart of our practice.
The children of Galawatta, Harankahawa, and Molagoda in Sri Lanka are facing a severe shortage of basic stationary supplies such as notebooks, pencils, and erasers, which are crucial for their education. These communities are home to families who are struggling to make ends meet and unable to purchase these essential supplies for their children.
We are asking for your support to help purchase these supplies for these children through the KarunaKIDS Fund, an endeavor of Oklahoma Buddhist Vihara (OKBV), which is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Donations can be made to OKBV and should be clearly marked as a donation to the KarunaKIDS Fund.
By making a monetary donation to support the purchase of stationery supplies for these children, you have the opportunity to cultivate the practice of generosity (dāna) and help to alleviate the suffering of others. Your donation will provide these children with the tools they need to succeed and ensure that they receive the education they deserve.
In Buddhism, the act of giving is seen as a means of purifying the mind and accumulating positive karma, leading to greater happiness and well-being in this life and future lives. By supporting this cause, you are not only making a tangible difference in these children's lives but also investing in your own spiritual growth and development.
