LET’S PRAY AS THE BODY OF CHRIST, THE CHURCH. This important because praying together when prioritized produces wonderful results. In the Early Church, born on the Day of Pentecost in the First Century, praying together resulted in the enhancement of church unity (Acts 1:14; 2:1), the election of church leaders (Acts 1:21-26; 6:1-7), and the extension of the church mission (Acts 13:1-3). PTL!
The Twenty-First Century Church needs to learn to emulate the First Century Church by making praying together a priority. Amen!

“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.”(2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:3-4‬, ‭NLT‬‬)

A story of the hymn, “Because He lives” by Bill and Gloria Gaither, according to William Petersen.

The late 1960s were dark days for Bill and Gloria Gaither. Both of them were struggling with health problems, and Gloria was pregnant with their third child. The world around them was swirling with news of the Vietnam War, civil unrest, the drug culture, and violence in the streets. Was this any kind of world in which to raise a family?

Discouraged and disheartened, they looked for signs of hope. One day in the spring, Bill walked out of his office to inspect a newly paved parking area. Construction workers had covered it with several coats of asphalt. Bill was satisfied with the job that was done, but as he turned, he noticed a tiny blade of grass poking through the layers of rock and tar to reach into the sunlight.

In early summer the baby was born, and when Bill and Gloria brought their child home, they wrote this song of joy, remembering the environment. More important, they remembered that their baby could indeed face uncertain days because Christ lives.

Scriptures: John 14:29; Ephesians 2:4-7; Philippians 3:10
Themes: Hope, Easter, Resurrection

Lyrics of the Hymn:
God sent His Son, they called Him Jesus,
He came to love, heal, and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow;
Because He lives all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living just because He lives.

How sweet to hold a new-born baby,
And feel the pride, and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance,
This child can face uncertain days because He lives.

And then one day, I’ll cross the river,
I’ll fight life’s final war with pain;
And then as death gives way to victory,
I’ll see the lights of glory and I’ll know He lives.

GOOD NEWS OF GREAT JOY! This is how the angel of the Lord characterized the news of the FIRST CHRISTMAS that he delivered to the shepherds who were watching over their flock at night. The angel said to them: “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; 11 for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” (Luke 2:10-12, NASB).

Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!

Does it feel like nighttime in your soul? If so, don’t forget to meditate on this important and timeless promise from God’s Word: “...Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.” (Psalm 30:5b, NKJV)
