We're glad to welcome Case Carlson to this year's OALE team!

Carlson hails from Sayre, Oklahoma, and is currently a senior at Oklahoma State University, majoring in Animal Science with a minor in Agribusiness. Raised on a small commercial cow-calf/stocker operation, Carlson spent much of his youth immersed in farming, livestock and rodeo activities.

Currently, Carlson works as a student employee at OSU’s Willard Sparks Beef Research Center. Looking ahead, Carlson plans to build a career within the agriculture industry, leveraging his extensive background and education to make meaningful contributions to the ag industry.

Welcome to this year's class, Case!👏

OALE had a great time in Southwest Oklahoma this week! Students kicked off the week learning about potato and watermelon growing/harvesting at Triple S Farms in Hydro before heading to Mangum and touring Mangum Brick Company where students got an up-close look at the brick production and distribution cycle.

The last day and a half were spent in Altus where students met with several industry professionals and Jackson County organizations including Cattlemens Bank, Heinen Brothers Agra Services, H&D Cattle, Plains Cotton Cooperative Association, and a variety of cotton and irrigation-related stops.

Thank you to everyone who had a hand in this trip and for Carson Vinyard for being our local tour guide.

Up next: Southeast Oklahoma!

Under the spotlight this week is Jacey Bordwine.

Born and raised in Dibble, Oklahoma, Bordwine is currently an Animal Science and Agricultural Communications senior at Oklahoma State University. She grew up on her family’s hay operation in southern Oklahoma, where her she spent her time raising and showing pigs alongside her two younger brothers.

As a second-generation Cowboy at Oklahoma State, Bordwine has served as President of her sorority and Vice President of the Ferguson College Ambassador Team while staying involved across the agricultural industry through a variety of internships.

After graduating in May 2027, Bordwine plans to pursue a Master in Business Administration before beginning a career in agricultural marketing and communications. Long term, she plans to return to her roots in southern Oklahoma where she hopes to continue her family's tradition of raising livestock and give back to the ag industry.

Welcome to the team, Jacey!
