OKC Latino Young Professionals “Advancing opportunities for Latinos and Hispanics in Oklahoma.”

OKC Latino Young Professionals Association (OKCLYP) is dedicated to developing, connecting, and empowering Oklahoma’s fastest-growing demographic. OKCLYP exists to provide a culturally supportive environment for young professionals to access mentoring, networking, professional development opportunities, and resources to thrive personally and professionally. Our organization is built on four key pi

llars: Mentoring, Networking, Professional Development, and Resources & Community. We are fulfilling our mission to advance opportunities for Latinos and Hispanics in Oklahoma by identifying gaps in representation and connecting qualified, passionate leaders to opportunities that position them to be change makers and decision drivers. Through our partnerships, we prioritize sharing information that will benefit the OKCLYP network and the larger Latino and Hispanic communities in our city, such as career and educational opportunities, funding sources, board service, professional recognition, civic engagement, and business opportunities.

🌟 October Spotlight: Rising Stars in Our Community!🌟

This month, we’re excited to shine our spotlight on two outstanding young leaders making a significant impact: Representative Arturo Alonso and Jessica Cifuentes!

These incredible individuals are not just inspiring change; they're paving the way for future generations.

Arturo is one of Oklahoma’s youngest elected officials, proudly representing House District 89. As a first-generation American from South Oklahoma City, he’s dedicated to amplifying his community's voice and fighting against systemic inequities. His journey exemplifies resilience and determination!

Jessica is a true trailblazer in education and public service. With over $500,000 in scholarships to attend Emory University, she’s now making strides in the cardiovascular operating room at INTEGRIS Baptist Heart Hospital. Notably, she’s also the first Guatemalan elected to serve on the OKCPS Board of Education!

Together, Arturo and Jessica are passionate mentors in the Southside Robotics Club, inspiring young minds to explore STEM and leadership. Their commitment to education, innovation, and community service is a shining example for us all.

Join us in congratulating Arturo and Jessica as they continue to rise and inspire! Keep an eye on these stars as they lead the way for a brighter future! Felicidades!🌟✨

changes people, and Cohort IV reminded us just how powerful that can be!

In June, we celebrated the graduation of 19 mentees and 19 mentors who built real connections, shared stories, and opened doors for one another.

Thank you to everyone who was part of Cohort IV. Your commitment, heart, and presence made this program what it is. We’re also grateful to Cocina de Mino for sponsoring the event and to Representative Arturo Alonso for recognizing each participant with a special citation.

This work matters, and we’re just getting started!

YP Day at the Capitol took us from advocacy and bill tracking training to observing the House floor and connecting over lunch with YPs from Lawton, Norman, Moore, OKC, and Duncan!

Huge shoutout to board member Miriam Ortega for serving on the 2025 YP Day at the Capitol Planning Committee and leading the Get to Know Your Representative Q&A Panel, and to OKCLYP Mentorship Program mentee Ben Quirino for stepping up as moderator.

Here’s to the next generation of civic leaders—already making an impact! 🔥
