History often overlooks the names behind the breakthroughs. Dr. Solomon Carter Fuller was a pioneer who translated much of Alois Alzheimer’s original work into English.
His discovery of physical changes in the brain was a turning point in medical history, proving that mental health is rooted in physical biology. This shift in understanding is the foundation of modern psychiatric care.

This week, we are honoring a pioneer whose work redefined what it means to care for others. Bessie Blount Griffin wasn’t just a physical therapist and forensic scientist; she was a champion for autonomy.

While working with WWII veterans who had lost the use of their hands, Bessie refused to let her patients lose their dignity. She invented an electric self-feeding device, proving that “A Black woman can invent something for the benefit of humankind.”

MRD fam, we made it through another year of grinding, growing, and proving exactly why this team hits different. We showed up, held it down, and built wins the old-school way — with grit, teamwork, and a whole lot of heart. Now it’s our turn to switch gears and celebrate like the legends we are.
