It is with heavy hearts that we announce the forthcoming closure of the Diversity Center of Oklahoma’s physical location effective December 31, 2025.
After nearly fifteen years of service to the Gender Diverse and 2S-LGBTQ+ community, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to close the physical location of our community center on 39th, however we will be providing supportive services virtually. This decision was not made lightly. It follows a careful and comprehensive review of our funding landscape and organizational sustainability.
Thanks to the strength of our community and the shared belief in our mission, Diversity Center of Oklahoma has served thousands of individuals and families over the years. Together, we built more than a community center—we built a safe haven. A place where people could find not just care, but community.
We are proud of the community center’s legacy we leave behind and of the relationships we’ve cultivated—both with our partner organizations and with every individual who has passed through our doors on 39th Street. To every person who sought services, stood by our side, donated, advocated, or shared our mission: thank you. Your trust and belief in this work made it possible. Even as we wind down our direct services, we hold fast to the spirit of compassion, love, and connection that has defined the Diversity Center of Oklahoma’s Community Center from the beginning.
We are committed to a responsible and community-centered closure process for the Community Center. We will provide clear communication, personalized support, and updated referral resources to ensure a smooth transition of care. A comprehensive list of referrals and continued care options will be made available to all current clients and community members.
We encourage our tight-knit community to remain connected throughout this transition. While the Diversity Center of Oklahoma will no longer provide direct services, the values we built together will continue to thrive in the organizations and individuals we've partnered with and supported. As we prepare to close this chapter, we do so with hearts full of pride for what we’ve built together. The impact of Diversity Center of Oklahoma is not measured only in numbers, but in the stories, lives, and love shared over fifteen transformative years.
