As school starts back up, we want to wish all of our youth a great school year! 📚✏️

Over the summer, we soft-launched our school and group tours as we continue developing an interactive approach to teaching young people about the history of the Oklahoma Civil Rights Movement and empowering them to become active change agents in their communities.

Our hope is that these experiences not only educate, but also inspire the next generation to they want to see. ✊🏾

We join our community in celebrating the life of M.T. Berry.

M.T. Berry served as the first Black police chief and Assistant City Manager for the City of Oklahoma City.

He is survived by his wife, Freedom Center board member Diana Berry, and his children Major III, Michelle, Myrissa, Timothy, their spouses and seven grandchildren.

“We have lost an extraordinary chief, but more importantly, we have lost an extraordinary man. Although we shall miss him, the legacy he leaves behind will live on through the many he positively impacted throughout the years.” - Oklahoma City police Chief Ron Bacy
