Paddy Metcalf
Candidate for 3rd Vice President
Oklahoma Retired Firefighters Association (ORFA)
My name is Paddy Metcalf, and I am asking for your vote for 3rd Vice President of the Oklahoma Retired Firefighters Association (ORFA).
I have been married to my lovely wife, Kelly, for 42 years. We have one daughter, Whitney, who is a nurse, and two wonderful grandchildren. Our granddaughter, Addison, is a sophomore at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha, and our grandson is in the 5th grade at Pawhuska Elementary School. My family means the world to me, and I enjoy spending as much time—and probably a little too much money—on my grandchildren as I can. I also enjoy spending time working on our small cattle ranch south of Pawhuska.
My Fire Service Career
I proudly served 30 years with the Pawhuska Fire Department, working my way up from a rookie firefighter to Fire Chief before retiring.
During my career, I had the opportunity to serve the fire service in many different capacities. I served as an adjunct fire instructor for OSU Fire Service Training, Chairperson of the Osage County Fire Chiefs Association, and President of the Fire Instructors of Oklahoma. I was also honored to be named Fire Instructor of the Year in ________. In addition, I have served on several committees for the Oklahoma State Firefighters Association (OSFA).
After retiring from the Pawhuska Fire Department, I accepted a position with OSU Fire Service Training as Fire Programs Manager, a position I have held since my retirement from the department. This has allowed me to continue serving Oklahoma's fire service and the firefighters who dedicate their lives to protecting their communities.
My Commitment to ORFA
I currently serve on the ORFA Resolution and Constitution Committee. I also had the privilege of serving as Acting Sergeant at Arms at the 2026 ORFA Convention.
I have attended the last 15 ORFA conventions and have served on committees at several of those conventions. Through these experiences, I have gained an even greater appreciation for the importance of ORFA and the responsibility we have to look after the men and women who spent their careers protecting the citizens of Oklahoma.
Why I Am Running
I believe the primary responsibility of ORFA is to protect and improve the Oklahoma Firefighters Pension and Retirement System.
Our organization must continue to advocate for the financial security of Oklahoma's retired firefighters. This includes working with our legislators to pursue cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs), stipends for retirees, and long-term funding stability for our pension system.
But our responsibility goes beyond legislation.
ORFA board members must work to serve the best interests of all association members, improve member services, and strengthen communication with retired firefighters and their families. We need to make sure our members are informed, involved, and confident that ORFA is working on their behalf.
If elected, I will bring 30 years of fire service experience, leadership experience, knowledge of the fire service, and a strong commitment to our retired firefighters to the ORFA Board.
I would be honored to have the opportunity to continue serving you and the Oklahoma Retired Firefighters Association.
I would appreciate your vote for 3rd Vice President.
Thank you for your support, your friendship, and your service to the fire service.
