They say Spades is more than a card game… it’s communication, partnership, strategy, and a whole lot of personality. ♠️🔥

The Senior Social Club is bringing the community together for an afternoon of cards, laughter, music, fellowship, and friendly competition at the Seniors Spades Tournament.

Our seasoned players are not coming to play around either — they’re bringing wisdom, teamwork, old-school skill, and a few “books” with them too. 😄

Join us Thursday, June 18th from 10AM–2PM at Garden Oaks Community Center for a day rooted in connection and community.

Good people and good fun always go good together.

Service is not confined to a sanctuary. Real ministry moves beyond the church walls and into the heartbeat of the community.

This past weekend, Garden Oaks Community Center — home of the Alpha Community Foundation of Oklahoma — was honored to host members of People’s Church TV for Serve Day as volunteers rolled up their sleeves to help beautify our campus and support facility cleanup efforts across our 27,000 sq. ft. community center and 10 acres of shared neighborhood space.

With dozens walking through our doors daily, spaces like Garden Oaks are more than buildings. They are living ecosystems of hope, opportunity, fellowship, learning, healing, and connection. Sustaining a neighborhood anchor takes more than vision alone — it takes servant leadership, committed partnerships, and hands willing to work. As scripture reminds us, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” Matthew 9:37.

We are deeply grateful to the 15 volunteers who showed up ready to serve, encourage, and invest in community. Your presence reminded us that impact is strongest when organizations, churches, and neighbors work side-by-side.

Special thanks to the People's Church MWC team for choosing to engage beyond the campus and into the community. We appreciate your encouragement, your energy, your 🙏🏾 , and your belief in the vision taking shape at Garden Oaks.

The work continues. The vision grows. And together, we keep building spaces where people feel seen, supported, and connected.

Happy Mother’s Day!! 💐

Last Tuesday at Garden Oaks, we honored our senior mothers ages 75+ and celebrated the wisdom, strength, and love they continue to pour into our community.

Special recognition to our eldest honored member, 96-year-old Mrs. Willie Hankins — a true pillar of grace and resilience.

Today, we wish all mothers, grandmothers, mother figures, and caregivers a Happy Mother’s Day. Thank you for the generations you’ve nurtured and the communities you’ve helped build.

Keep multiplying your power. We still need you all. 🌹

Today, the Senior Social Club rolled out to Grand Casino Hotel & Resort for a day filled with fun, laughter, fellowship, good food, and even better memories. And by the end of the trip, our seniors all seemed to agree on one thing:

“The trip was too short!”

A special thank you to the Citizen Potawatomi Nation and Grand Casino Hotel & Resort for sponsoring today’s senior visit and blessing our group with $10 free play and $10 meal vouchers. Your generosity helped create more than a trip—it created an experience our seniors will remember.

At Alpha Community Foundation, senior quality of life matters. Our seniors deserve opportunities to explore, connect, and experience joy beyond the walls of our Center and beyond the radius of a few neighborhood blocks.

Did You Know?
Studies show seniors without reliable transportation experience 65% fewer visits with family and friends and 59% fewer trips for dining and social activity—leading to increased risks of social isolation, depression, and declining health outcomes among older adults in communities like 73117. Seniors who remain socially connected and active experience stronger mental, physical, and emotional wellness.

That’s why moments like today matter.

The smiles, conversations, games, music, and laughter on the bus ride home reminded us that community care is also about creating experiences that keep people engaged with life.

And next time?
We may need to stay a little longer.
