Where does our power to change reside? One key place, hidden in our state layers of government is the corporation commission.

This largely unknown body is made up of three elected officials, and more or less regulates public service corporations in the state…or not really.

In the case of regulating OG&E and ONG, the current three reps have each taken over $200k from groups surrounding these utilities in their last campaign cycles.

In the best scenario, they would regulate OG&E and ONG to protect consumers and ensure reliable service. They SHOULD have voted no on securitizing OG&E’s debt, as they had years to prepare and billions in profits to make a clean + weather secure grid.

What can we do? Elect democrat and Tulsa Law professor Warigia Bowman instead of Kim David this fall in the general election.

In addition to earning billions in profit over the last decade, OG&E’s shareholders earned 300 million in 2021 alone.

When a company this financially successful can barely provide reliable service when it’s temperate and cannot when the wind blows or temperature drops, it’s worth considering our alternatives.

Is addressing carbon emissions and simultaneously building good jobs politically possible in a state like Oklahoma?

We certainly believe it is. Building out renewables and a new grid in Oklahoma will directly and indirectly employ thousands, not to mention improve our health from reduced pollution.

Why will we be at OG&E one week from now? Remember that two week freeze in 2021? We’ll, we will be paying for it until 2049 after our utilities failed to provide “reliable” energy.

🚨Help us fight the winter gas bill from hell. 🚨

As weather events intensify due to climate change, guess who will pay the price? SPOILER ALERT: not the energy systems that caused the crisis in the first place. It’s us! We’ll pay. And we’re set to bankroll a premium on energy for the next 23 years because OGE was unprepared for the winter storm last year.

YOU should not have to pay the price for failed energy systems.

We probably can’t help with those, but we CAN help you help US help YOURSELF help everyone and everything you enjoy (and don’t enjoy) by coming to our earth day rally.

Help US save our BELOVED swamp (And forests, and prairies, and coasts, and…)

Sunrise OKC, the Peace House, and the Sierra club will be hosting an earth day rally this Saturday from 10-11 at the corner of Sheridan and Robinson!

Word on the street is that there will be like 30,000 people and may do a mic drop in support of climate justice. Right Mr. Mayor?

Anyway, you don’t wanna miss the earth day of all earth days, the one where we really get this ball rolling on saving this big blue and green ball.
