WELCOME TO DOWN SYNDROME AWARENESS MONTH!
Trisomy 21, commonly known as Down syndrome, is a condition in which there is duplication of the 21st chromosome.
Individuals with Down syndrome are diverse in skills and interests. They attend college, get married, and are involved politically. They work in every aspect of our communities.
Some are quiet, some are outspoken.
Introducing to some, presenting to others, the reigning 2025 Miss Amazing Jr Miss Courtney Gaines.
She a self-advocate Board member on the National Down syndrome Society, and an active self-advocate with the Down syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma, Supporting Minorities with Disabilities, the National Down syndrome Congress.
She is the 1st African American/Person of Color with Down syndrome to walk the runway in the HISTORY of the Miss Teen USA, Miss USA, Miss Universe Franchise.
The Down syndrome Information Act, AKA, Courtney's Law, was signed into law in Oklahoma.
She is the first African American female and Person of Color to co-star in a leading role of a scripted film production, I Can Do All Things.
She currently works with the Paloma Talent Agency in Los Angeles. Some exciting things are about to happen, and you know what???
