June is Pride Month, and Native American Student Services (NASS) is proud to celebrate the diversity, strength, and unique identities that make our community stronger.

At NASS, we believe every student deserves a place where they feel seen, valued, respected, and supported. Our mission has always been to create opportunities for Native students to connect with their culture, discover their strengths, and build a sense of belonging—no matter what they look like, where they come from, or how they identify.

We recognize that many Native students navigate multiple identities, and we honor the courage it takes to embrace and share those experiences. Through programs like our Indigenous Voices Youth (I.V.Y.) Council and student leadership opportunities, we encourage young people to tell their stories, support one another, and celebrate who they are.

This Pride Month, we reaffirm our commitment to providing a safe and welcoming space where all students can thrive academically, culturally, and personally. We celebrate the voices, perspectives, and contributions of LGBTQ+ and Two-Spirit members of our Native community, whose presence enriches our schools and strengthens our future.

Together, we continue building a community rooted in respect, understanding, cultural pride, and belonging.

Free physicals start TOMORROW NIGHT at John Marshall High School!

OKCPS Families:

If you have a student currently in grades 5-11 considering participating in any athletics program for the 2026-2027 school year, make sure you take advantage of this amazing FREE opportunity! Throughout the month of May we have 4 dates at 4 different locations across the city providing FREE Physicals to the scholar athletes of OKCPS.

All dates, locations and times are listed in the graphic. Transportation will be provided from school sites not hosting, but parents are also encouraged to bring children on their own. Have your student talk to his or her coaches or Site Athletic Director/Coordinator to get more information and the necessary paperwork.

Make sure your student is at school and comes with their team on their assigned day to save you the time and cost of getting a physical from anywhere else this year!

Chickasaw students grade 7-12 can explore career and higher education options while discovering available scholarship and financial aid opportunities during this series of college campus tours across Oklahoma.

Lunch will be provided, and transportation is available from Ada and Ardmore. Students are welcome to bring one parent or guardian. Those who attend three of the five tours will be entered in a drawing to win a free laptop!

💜✨ WOW. The Native American Student Services Senior Ceremony 2026 was a night we will NEVER forget! The energy, the pride, the love in that room was unmatched. Shoutout to every high school, every family, Metro Tech, and our incredible district for pouring into these students every single day. 🌟 Celebrating Native Excellence! 🌟

On April 9, 2026, history was made at the first-ever OKC Metro Indian Education Directors Consortium Native American Excellence Awards Ceremony — and OKCPS showed up in a BIG way!

We are incredibly proud to share that 101 OKCPS Native American high school students were honored that evening for maintaining a 3.5 GPA or higher. 101 scholars recognized. 101 futures shining bright. 🦅

This special night of photos, awards, and celebration took place at the Norman Public Schools Center for Arts and Learning, and it was a moment our students and families will never forget.

To every student honored on April 9th — we see you, we celebrate you, and we are so incredibly proud of you. Keep reaching higher! 💙

On April 22, 2026, we had one of those moments that remind us exactly why we do this work.

Our IVY students gathered to celebrate a full year of commitment, growth, and showing up—not just for themselves, but for each other. From the laughs to the proud moments, this banquet is all about honoring the hard work they’ve put in all year long.

One of the most powerful parts of the night? Hearing our students share their testimonies. Their voices, their journeys, their experiences in IVY… it’s real, it’s inspiring, and it’s what this program is all about.

Of course, we made sure nobody left hungry (because you know we feed our people right ⭐️), but what made the night even more special were the skirts and vests. Each one was made with love so our students can represent and express their Indigenous identity with pride. Seeing them wear those pieces… that’s culture, that’s confidence, that’s community.

For those who may not know, IVY stands for the Indigenous Voices Youth Council. It’s made up of Native American students in grades 7–12 across OKCPS who are ready to use their voice, represent their communities, and make an impact. Our students serve as leaders, role models, and advocates—supporting Native American Student Services (NASS), giving back through community service, and uplifting Native youth across the district.
