Great advice from ERIN DALY + PAUL HO**ER || Aviation & Travel ✈️✈️✈️ I originally thought about working on getting comfortable flying again privately, off Instagram. But then I started thinking back to why I started this account in the first place.

When I began my aviation journey, I felt pretty alone. I came from zero aviation background, and it seemed like everyone around me had been flying their whole lives. I’d watch these incredibly talented pilots online and wondered if I’d ever be able to even fly a plane. Let alone talk on comms😂

The truth is, sometimes life gets busy.
Sometimes passions and hobbies get put on pause.
And sometimes it’s just not the right time for a multitude of reasons- and that’s okay.

But I also think it’s important not to be afraid of starting again. Maybe it’ll be harder than you remember. Maybe it won’t. Either way, the only way to find out is to get back in the seat.

So if sharing this process of getting uncomfortable so I can become comfortable (and proficient) again encourages even one person to return to something they once loved, I’d say it’s worth it. 💛

Forty three years ago, Dr. Sally Ride made dreams a reality.

On June 18, 1983 Dr. Sally Ride became the first American woman to fly in space. Sally and the trailblazing women of that first NASA class didn't just break a barrier - they changed what is possible. Thank you all for the inspiration!

Day 5:
Learned about stalls and slow flight. I pitched down too much and too fast while trying to recover and that was scary. Immediately turned to see my instructor’s face and saw a surprised look on her face. The 2nd time around was much better since I now knew what to do.

Feeling a little discouraged at the moment but I know I too will recover and learn from this. 😔

Total flight hours: 2
Flight hours remaining: 1498🙃

𝐎𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐞: June 15, 1921, Bessie Coleman made history by graduating from the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale and becoming the first African American woman to earn a pilot’s license. After facing barriers to flight training in the United States, Coleman traveled to France to pursue her dream of aviation. Her determination helped pave the way for future generations of aviators and expanded opportunities for women and people of color in flight.

Inspired by pioneers like Bessie? Join a community of women in aviation through The Ninety-Nines and help continue the legacy of supporting, mentoring, and uplifting women pilots. ➡️ https://www.ninety-nines.org/join-99s.htm
