A difficult conversation, but one we believe our community deserves to have.
Pride is for the community, by the community - Those words from our Board President, Christian, have always been at the heart of what Oklahoma City Pride & Community Outreach is about. And today, we are leaning into that belief more than ever.
Pride on 39th was our biggest celebration yet — a celebration of 39 years of Pride on 39th Street and of the community that has carried this tradition forward for nearly four decades. And our community showed up.
You showed up in incredible numbers. You celebrated. You supported local businesses and organizations. You bought from our vendors. You helped us fundraise. You made 39 Years of Pride on 39th something we will never forget. By every measure, the celebration itself was a tremendous success.
But financially, we have a difficult reality we need to share.
As we finalized the numbers after the event, we found ourselves facing a significant gap between what we raised and what we ultimately owed. A number of sponsors who had committed to supporting Pride on 39th were ultimately unable to fulfill those commitments, leaving us with expenses that we had already incurred and were still responsible for paying.
One of those outstanding obligations is our security team & electrician, along with regular monthly expenses.
As of today, Oklahoma City Pride & Community Outreach still owes just over $17,000 for the services that helped keep our community safe during Pride on 39th.
We believe those people deserve to be paid for the work they did. Period.
And we believe our community deserves honesty from us about where we are.

In fact, we think asking for help from the community is part of what it means to be for the community, by the community. Pride on 39th was built by all of us. The history behind it belongs to all of us. And now, we need all of us to help us finish what we started.
