LET'S CELEBRATE 15,000 SAFE DAYS! 🥳 We're so grateful for our volunteers, our staff, churches, those who donate, and for the participating parents for trusting us to help keep kids safe and families together in Oklahoma. What a blessing for our state!

IMCI will be closed in observance of Memorial Day, and will re-open tomorrow, Tuesday, May 26th.

This Memorial Day, we take time to remember and honor those who served and gave their lives in service to others. Their courage, commitment, and sacrifice continue to inspire us to take action when it matters.

We carry their legacy forward by showing up for one another—through compassion, service, and a shared commitment to building stronger, more connected communities.

Cherokee Nation will host a two-day ‘Expungement Expo’ on May 19 and 20 at the Chota Center in Tahlequah. The event is open to eligible Cherokee citizens and eligible citizens of other federally recognized tribes seeking to clear their criminal records. Cherokee Nation citizens will also be connected to programs and services that support long-term stability and success.

The inaugural Expungement Expo is being held in partnership with Oklahoma Indian Legal Services and will provide free legal screenings, application assistance and support for filing expungement petitions for criminal convictions in state court under Oklahoma law.

The goal is to reduce barriers to employment, housing, education and financial stability while strengthening Cherokee families and communities.

We are beyond proud to celebrate this incredible milestone with one of our very own! Erika has just earned her Doctorate of Education, and we could not be more honored to have her as part of IMCI.

Dr. Johnson's dedication, passion, and heart for people have always been evident — and we know the Oklahoma City community and the world of education are better for it. We cannot wait to see the lives she touches and the doors she opens for others.

Congratulations to Erika Hall, who receives her Doctorate in Education on May 9, and was chosen as the graduate student speaker at the commencement for the School of Education and American University School of Communication. At It's My Community Initiative - IMCI, Hall leads education services for out-of-school programming in Oklahoma City. Her research focuses on family/school collaboration and its impact on community economic development.
