Born May 24, 1983 to Penny Green and Climmie Torbert, Kelvin was the youngest of four boys. He was a very well mannered and intelligent young man, who loved to follow his big brothers around. He began to love sports at a very young age, he would play just about any sport he could , with he favorites being basketball and football. Kelvin was raised in Flint Michigan , where he attended Flint Northw
estern High school one of the cities schools know for its good athletes. Kelvin was a very quite person he was always would keep to himself a-lot, until you got him on a football field or a basketball court then it was all work and no play , he was the best at what he did, every time he played he was very competitive he wanted to win no matter who you were,It was always a big deal to him to be the winner in everything he competed in . But in life kelvin learned that theres just some things that no matter how hard you may fight and how much you want it you just cant win them all. At the tender age of five Kelvin was faced with a very difficult challenge of losing his mother to breast cancer. With him being the youngest of four boys his brothers were their for him to coach him through this trying time in his life. After dealing with the loss of his mom Kelvin would soon learn that his dad Climmie would need a kidney replacement and would have to take Dialysis treatment. But through the struggle of his dad waiting for a kidney and pushing through everyday , kelvin still did what he needed to to in school to earn a full athletic scholarship to Michigan State University. Kelvin would graduate for Flint Northwestern High school in 2001 and began his education at MSU in the summer of 01. Kelvin would go on to be a very good athlete for MSU, as well as a good student. While kelvin was maintaining his studies and playing basketball for MSU his dad became very ill, his dads sickness became to much for his body to handle and in the summer of 05 Kelvin lost his dad to kidney failure and he also was diagnosed with breast cancer. As Kelvin dealt with the the struggle of loosing his dad he became very humble and eager to find a cure for this disease that has now taken the lives of both of his parents. So this is why Kelvin has now formed the “Kelvin Torbert hope for a better tomorrow “ Foundation. He’s very excited to help in finding a cure for cancer so that many families can live their lives around the people that they love and just enjoy life itself. Kelvin is now a former pro basketball player in Europe, has a son Kelvin jr.(kj).
