Wow, what a day.

On August 28, 48 Green Industry professionals from around the state gathered for MNLA's 2026 Landscape Design Tour in Metro Detroit.

We toured eight exemplary public and private projects, exchanging ideas, discovering new plants and materials, and gathering fresh inspiration

Thank you to our wonderful host firms, who took the time to meet us on-site and guide us through their projects:

Honoring Those Who Served: Congratulations to Oakland County, Michigan Government!

The Michigan Nursery & Landscape Association is proud to recognize Oakland County Campus Facilities Maintenance and Operations as a recipient of the Plant Michigan Green Community Landscape Beautification Award for “Fallen Heroes Memorial Beautification.”

To commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, the Oakland County Grounds Division enhanced the Michigan Fallen Heroes Memorial with a striking display of American flags along the main walkway—creating an even more impactful and respectful setting for remembrance.

The memorial honors Michigan law enforcement officers, firefighters, military service members, and other public servants who lost their lives in the line of duty. The Oakland County Facilities Grounds Team maintains the site year-round, ensuring it remains a beautiful, welcoming place for reflection, ceremonies, and community gatherings.

Congratulations to the Oakland County Facilities Grounds Team and Oakland County Sheriff's Office for their dedication to honoring our fallen heroes and creating a place of lasting community pride.

Our appreciation to State Representative Brenda Carter, special guest Randy Carter, and Office of State Senator Jeremy Moss for their special Tributes and to Hugh McGillivray, President of the Michigan Nursery & Landscape Association for attending.
