Sun Horse Community, we need you.

We aren’t on the ground at Bowie this weekend, but three different rescues sent us this beautiful girl, and we have to at least try. We have to try.

She’s a 2 year old Gypsy cross mare in the direct to ship pen at America’s largest exporter of horse meat. They’re sorting right now and loading the truck to ship to Mexico. This beautiful soul does not deserve to ship on that truck, never to be seen again.
She deserves a second chance: rehab, training, love. She deserves OUR community.

We have ONE HOUR to pull her and raise the funds. I know that’s crazy but this is her reality right now, and we have the ability to change it. Our vet bills are insanely high right now, but the thought of her shipping makes us sick. If we can step in together, we will.
It takes a village to do this work. It takes a community of compassion to believe in second chances. I know our community has it in us to do this!

Our sweet baby girl is still in the ICU, and we are taking it hour by hour. This afternoon our incredible vet team had to acquire a very special plasma specifically appropriate for a newborn donkey. Cutie’s IgG levels were dangerously low because she didn’t receive enough colostrum, leaving her little body really vulnerable to infection. She is now undergoing her plasma transfusion to give her the immune protection she desperately needs. She is also receiving antibiotics and intensive care while the team watches closely to see how her little body responds. We are praying for our girl.
Please keep Cutie in your prayers today. Pray that she responds to the plasma, that we can get the infection under control, and that our tiny girl keeps fighting.

Please keep our precious girl, Cutie in your prayers. This morning when we came out to the barn we noticed she was a bit lame on her front right leg. After observing her for a couple hours it was getting worse rapidly. We immediately had our vet come out and rushed her to the emergency hospital. A newborn can become lame when an infection in the umbilical cord spreads through the bloodstream and can go septic quickly. An inflamed coffin bone can have several causes, but this very rare on a newborn so we’re doing all the tests to determine exactly what is wrong. When we got to the vet her initial bloodwork did have elevated white blood cell count which is very concerning. Gosh, this is so incredibly tough and hard on all of us. It’s especially hard on her mama Annabelle. Please keep our girl in your prayers, our incredible vet team is doing everything they can. We will be updating as we know more.
