According to psychiatrist the fear of public speaking is caused by the fear of ostracism, the fear of standing out, the fear of criticism, the fear of ridicule, the fear of being an outcast. A note from Marie:
I recently stepped onto a huge stage at the Aquarium of the Pacific, in a full amphitheater, and I kept thinking about how much speech club has helped me get there. It’s given me the space to sit with the uncomfortable—the nerves, the vulnerability—and to keep showing up anyway.

The support and encouragement from the group have gone such a long way. While I was on stage, I found myself picturing familiar faces from the club in the audience, and that sense of support carried far beyond the room.

I’m so grateful for this community over the past year—for the chance to practice, grow, and receive such thoughtful, valuable feedback.
