Cub Scout Pack 17

Hello everyone!

Summer is coming to a close, and the schools are starting back up in the next few days! With that…we’ll once again start meeting for Cub Scouts!

Due to Labor Day on 9/7, I’d like to start the year with a Committee/Parent’s meeting on 9/14 at 6pm at the First Presbyterian Church to discuss a schedule and ideas for our Pack for the year ahead.

If you know of any parents or kids interested in joining us for the year, please feel free to invite them to attend. Those of you who are returning, I’d really appreciate any ideas and feedback you may have from last year. Ideally, I’d really like to find some adults who could be interested in leading, or helping, with a den. It’d greatly help with my workload.

Our first regular Pack meeting will be scheduled for 9/21.

The site for our camping looks good, and should dry out this afternoon. The forecast is looking good for our campout. Looks like a possibility of rain again Sunday later in the morning, so our plan will be to get everyone fed and packed away prior to the rain moving in.

Please try to have your Scout bring the six essentials: sunscreen and bug spray will be very helpful!

Forecast for the weekend looks good for now! Starts around 10am Saturday and will end around 10am Sunday. If you can come for any of it, we’d love to see you! Let us know so we have enough food and supplies.

We’re camping in the Outflow Recreation Area in Tionesta. To get there leave Oil City on Rt 62 North toward Tionesta. Follow 62 North and it will make a right turn to cross a bridge into the town of Tionesta. At the T intersection after crossing the bridge (facing the Forest County Visitor Center) make a right turn onto Rt 36 South. After that right turn watch for a brown sign directing you to turn left for the Outflow Recreation Area. You’ll turn left onto S Elm St across from the Vintage Inn Boutique. From there, continue straight and it will bring you right into where we will be camping.

Families,

I would like to have a meeting Monday 6/8 at 6:00 at the church to plan for our Cub Scouts campout next weekend.

Because we’re only camping for basically a 24 hour period we do not need a physical done with a doctor prior to camping, but we do need the Cub Scouts Medical forms A and B completed by everyone who plans to attend.

We have a list of recommended things to bring camping that we can distribute that evening also. If you can’t make it, but intend to camp, please let us know so we can have an accurate count for food. Although it’s only required for the younger Scouts, we strongly encourage parents to come and camp with your Cub Scout…it’s more fun for them that way!

Tonight is our Cub Scouts Bike Rodeo!

If your Scout has a bike and helmet, please bring them to the Church at our usual meeting time of 6pm. Eric will have a series of events designed to challenge them and teach them about safely riding.

Please make sure that they bring a helmet along with their bikes.
