Keeping with the scary, but also culturally unique, Venango Museum is showing the silent film Nosferatu tomorrow night starting at 7 p.m. with live organ accompaniment! Don't miss this unusual cinamatic experience right here in our own Oil Region backyard! And maybe sleep with the light on tomorrow night! Visit the museum's website for tickets and details.

Have you gotten your scare on yet at Two Mile Run County Park's Scary Tree Acres? Then what are you waiting for? They're open Fridays and Saturdays in October from 7-11 p.m. This haunted attraction is not for the faint of heart and best for teens and adults who relish a good fright. The Coal Oil Johnny House will be open this Fall in conjunction with the Oil Creek & Titusville Railroad’s 2026 Fall Foliage Rides!

Consider visiting the historic home 12 – 1 p.m. October 1-2, 7-8, 15-16 as a last chance before we close for the winter! A train ticket is not required to explore the home, and there is no cost to visit.

The second Monday of October is Indigenous Peoples Day. The day honors the sovereignty, resilience, and contributions of American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and all Indigenous Peoples across the country.

The Oil Region Alliance office will be closed today. The office will reopen Tuesday, October 13 at 8:30 a.m.

Even though our free outdoor summer concert series have come to end for this year, you can still catch lots of great live music in the Oil Region.

Killin Time, Banana Hammock, Two For Flinching, and Rustwater Soul will be at Trails to Ales II in Franklin this month.

Ill Tempered, Mason Levi and Bronnie, the ultimate Doors tribute, Sawyer, and a halloween party are coming to Titusville Iron Works this month.

Just a reminder about the Hunter Safety Course being offered at Two Mile Run County Park Saturday, November 7 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a required course for all first-time hunters and trappers ages 11 and up. Contact Two Mile to register.

Best Shop: Amy’s Closet in Oil City

Best Advocate: Tom Myers

Best Event: Applefest in Franklin

Best Destination: Barrow Civic Theatre in Franklin

Best Scenic Selfie Spot: Freedom Falls in Kennerdell

This is the sixth annual Tourism Awards hosted by the ORA.

Winners from the 2025 contest were not eligible to be nominated this year in the same category.

There are no cash prizes for the winners, but nominees and winners are promoted through the ORA’s social media and other marketing efforts.

Winners are invited to a reception later this month at which they will receive a sign and certificate and be photographed.

This is our way of recognizing those in our local hospitality industry who are integral to our high quality of life and the economy. We are fortunate to have such wonderful amenities here.

Thank you to everyone who made nominations and voted in the contest. We appreciate your participation and encourage everyone to patronize these noteworthy local businesses and events!
