No, it's not Halloween, but it's the next best thing! Today the ORA is celebrating the birthday of Project Coordinator and resident spooky-enthusiast Raven Nespor. Raven has been in the news a lot, not just for her work at the ORA, which includes running the programming at the Tarbell House, greeting guests of the OC&T train at the Coal Oil Johnny House, and her recent fundraising work during Crawford Gives, but also as the artist of Venango County's America 250 Bell. You can check out Raven's creation any time from outside or get up close M-F 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Rhoades Center on the Oil Region Venango Campus. Happy birthday, Raven!

Drake Well's 5th Annual Oil Boom Historic Dinner
Thursday, September 24, 2026 Doors open at 5 p.m.

Join Drake Well for an evening of delicious dishes made from authentic 19th century recipes! This year's dinner will once again showcase recipes from the residents of Titusville during its oil boom days. Reenactors will be present to talk about life in Titusville during the late 19th and early 20th centuries! The evening will also feature live vocal performances of songs from the oil boom by students of Rocsato Conservatory. This event benefits the David L. Weber Research Internship at Drake Well Museum and Park. Check back in late August for tickets!

A small corner of Crawford County is part of the Oil Region National Heritage Area, which means the ORNHA is represented at the Crawford County Fair, which opens this weekend!

Here's their breakdown of admissions plus some other good info to note:

Saturday 8/22 — Donation Day. Cash donations accepted at the gate.
Sunday 8/23 — $5 per person
Monday 8/24 — $10
Tuesday 8/25 — $10. Free for Seniors 65+, Veterans, and Active Military with valid ID.
Wednesday 8/26 through Saturday 8/29 — $10

Children 6 and under are always free with an adult entry. A weekly pass is $30 — worth it if you're coming three or more days.

Two things to know before you drive out:
⚠️ The gate is cash only. ⚠️ You can buy online, but there's a $3 surcharge and you'll need to show your ticket at the gate.

Gates open at 10 a.m. Fair closes at 10 p.m. Home Show and Exhibit Buildings run 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

What gate admission does not include: midway rides (Ride-A-Rama wristbands are sold separately at the Midway ticket booth) and grandstand event tickets. Many events are included — horse pulls, harness racing, garden tractor pulls, the circus — but the concerts, rodeo, derby, and truck & tractor pulls are ticketed separately.

There are also a lot of other worthy causes to consider, and you do not have to be a Crawford County resident to donate.
