Yesterday, A shift safety and successfully rescued two children from the Allegheny river, while the other child was assisted to safety by a kayaker and the Oil City Police Department.

Great job, A Shift, and OCPD! We are proud of your efforts and your continued dedication to protecting the citizens and visitors of Oil City.

Three children were rescued from the Allegheny River under the Wye Bridge Tuesday evening after emergency services received calls that the children were yelling for help under the bridge.

The members of Oil City Firefighters Local #700 are excited to welcome Firefighter/PHRN Cherico and Firefighter/EMT Mallory to the Oil City Fire Department!

These two individuals bring valuable motivation, dedication, and professionalism to our department, and we are confident they will be tremendous assets to both our organization and the community we proudly serve.

Their addition allows our department to return to full staffing, which is a significant step forward for the safety of our firefighters, and the citizens of Oil City. Maintaining adequate staffing ensures we can continue providing the high level of emergency services our community deserves.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the City of Oil City and department administration for recognizing the importance of public safety and supporting the efforts to restore our staffing levels. Their commitment to the well-being of our citizens and first responders has made this possible.

The Oil City Fire Department has a full complement of full-time firefighters as well as seven part-time firefighters after the department’s two newest hires.
