Altrusa International of Ogden, Utah is a member-based organization founded in 1954 that focuses on community betterment at home and across the globe through increasing literacy. of Ogden, Utah is one chapter of hundreds across the globe, and are apart of a community of thousands working to creating a better community around them. Probably the most famous member of Altrusa was Eleanor Roosevelt. C
urrently Altrusa International is an official observer to the United Nations. Altrusa International of Ogden, Utah formed their chapter in 1955. And has been going strong ever since continually working hard to better our community. Currently our members meet on the third Monday of every month at 5:30 pm through Zoom. We have flexible opportunities for service and appreciate the value of our members’ time. Join with our members and other community leaders to assess and address the needs of our community. We use our leadership abilities, contacts, and commitment to community service to make where we live an even better place. Service Projects:
“Book of My Own” – new books are donated to students in an area elementary school
Make a Difference Day – books donated for Division of Child and Family Services' Little Feet project
Children's Treehouse Museum - basket donated for silent auction
Weber School Foundation Christmas Tree Jubilee – club decorates and donates tree for auction
Carnegie Library at Christmas Village – club donated and decorates each year to be enjoyed by the community
Children’s Justice Center – basket donated for silent auction
Lantern House - we serve lunch once a month to the clients of Lantern House
Grandfamilies - we donate items to Division of Child and Family Services that enable extended family members of foster children to keep them safe in their homes

Fundraising:
We hold two yard sales (in June and September) at Besst Realty in Riverdale. Donations from Amazon Smile shoppers and Smith's Rewards shoppers. Additional fundraisers include poinsettia sales, Jimmy's Flowers cards, and Costa Vida cards. Fundraising proceeds go towards the club’s community projects. We make our community better through leadership, partnership and service.
