WSU Storytelling Festival

WSU Storytelling Festival This year’s festival will take place from March 9 to 12, 2026. We hope to see you there!

The Weber State University Storytelling Festival is an annual event that takes place every February. Listeners and tellers alike are eager to share oral storytelling's ancient art in the, typically, three-day event. The festival has featured 100's of storytellers since its inception in 1996, including national, regional, and youth tellers.

Once upon a time... Earlier this month, 849 Ogden School District students had the opportunity to attend the WSU Storytelling Festival thanks to funding from the Ogden School Foundation! Now in its 30th year, the Storytelling Festival brings some of the best national storytellers, local storytellers, and youth storytellers from local school districts together to celebrate literacy, culture, the arts, and (of course!), the power of a good story! We're proud of the Ogden School District students who performed and are grateful for our OSD Library Program district librarians for organizing this event. And they all lived happily ever after!

🎤✨ The heart of our festival: Youth Voices ✨🎤

Every year, 60–70 incredible youth tellers are invited to participate in the Weber State Storytelling Festival, selected for their outstanding performances at school festivals across the Weber State service region.

These talented young storytellers bring courage, creativity, humor, and heart to the stage — and their stories inspire us year after year.

School-age students and families are encouraged to connect with their local schools for more information about becoming a future Youth Teller.

🎉 We can’t wait to welcome our Youth Tellers in just three short days!

Join us March 9–12 to experience the magic of young voices sharing powerful stories — all events are FREE!

Growing up in Amish Country, Kim Weitkamp was once described as “too talkative” and “high-spirited.” Thankfully, she turned that into a lifetime of high-energy, heartfelt, and hilarious storytelling — and we are all better for it.

Kim is an award-winning storyteller, author, singer-songwriter, humorist, and speaker, with 15 years of full-time touring and performances at festivals and theaters across the country. Her stories and songs are heard regularly on NPR affiliate stations and Sirius XM.

With 8 award-winning albums, dozens more produced for other artists, and experience coaching global organizations and major nonprofits, Kim brings unmatched warmth, humor, and depth to every stage she steps on.
