This week 7 family Bibles were donated to Bible Rescue. Inside we found handwritten family history, names, dates, marriages, births, deaths, prayers, and personal notes recorded by people who are no longer here to tell their stories.

A family Bible is often the only surviving record connecting generations. It preserves the voices of parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents who carefully recorded the milestones of family life, never imagining that their words would one day help descendants understand who they are and where they came from.

Unfortunately, thousands of family Bibles are discarded every year during estate sales, downsizing, home cleanouts, and inheritances. Many are thrown away simply because no one knows what to do with them.

That's where Bible Rescue comes in.

We rescue family Bibles, preserve the family history they contain, and work to reconnect those records with descendants around the world. Every Bible saved is another family's story preserved for future generations.

If you have an old family Bible and aren't sure what to do with it, please consider donating it to Bible Rescue. Even if the Bible isn't valuable as an antique, the family history inside may be priceless to someone searching for their roots.

Don't let a family's story be lost.

Rescue. Record. Remember.

From one of the largest family Bibles we’ve rescued… to one of the smallest.

One Bible was printed in German in 1736 in Nürnberg, nearly 300 years ago. Large enough to sit at the center of a family home, its pages carried generations of names, births, marriages, and memories through centuries of history for the Roberts family.

The other is a tiny Oxford pocket Bible from London, printed roughly 150–200 years later. Small enough to fit in a coat pocket, carefully inscribed with the name Thornton Booth of Gordon Square, London.

Two Bibles.
Two languages.
Two centuries.
Two very different lives.

Yet both were searching for the same thing: family.

That is the mission of Bible Rescue.

We rescue family Bibles and preserve the names, stories, and voices hidden inside them before they disappear forever. Every Bible we sell helps fund the rescue of another. Every scanned page shared online helps descendants reconnect with their history at no cost.

Whether massive or miniature, every rescued Bible once mattered deeply to someone. And through Bible Rescue, they matter again.

If you have a family Bible we would love to have the scanned images and share them with the world. Or if you have a family Bible and wish to donate it please message us.
