It has been over one year since last post. Today, Jan 20, 2026, is the start of President Trumps second year in office of his second (and final) term.
Looking back at, in the minds of many, the disaster of the first year there has been a fixation on the things that voters do not care about while he ignores the agenda that put him back in office.
His approval ratings, even among his supporters has eroded. Three in 10 rate the economy as positive, while 55% believe his policies have made matters worse.
His signature issue--immigration--voters believe he has gone too far in carrying out the ICE raids. The administration touts that the apprehensions are getting "the worst of the worst", but even according to the DHS website that is not true.
Some facts as reported by both government and non-government sources:
He has issued 228 Executive Orders in his first year, with 26 on Day 1, which included the rioters of January 6, 2021. (Reminder: He claims he supports law-enforcement. The exact opposite of what the rioters were doing.)
1.6 million people striped of legal immigration status (so much for the claim that if one goes through the legal process, one is welcome here.)
605,000 deported
66,886 detained by ICE, with an average of 821 arrested every day.
(so much for constitutional protections of due process.)
75 countries were banned from immigration to the U.S. (These are countries that in his words "sh*t-whole", and where people of color are from. Can't have that.)
His tariff policy has added $1,500 to household expenses, with the tariff income of $287 billion, not the trillions he claims. (Also: where is the $2000 rebate check that was supposed to be given? Hint: there will never be one.)
Two final statements. First, his claim that he has ended eight wars or conflicts is another false claim. A couple that he claims to have ended never existed. He also has launched 658 air and drone attacks with dubious claims. Second, opened 2.5 million square km for ocean drilling. (just wait for the natural disasters which will occur in the future because of this shortsighted policy. Remember the earlier mention of cutting the federal workforce of people which will handle a natural disaster. But of course, he is never responsible.)
