An illegal (and totally stupid) war has been started by the Idiot in Chief for no apparent reason(s) with Iran. There have been a few excuses given for this conflict to begin, but none has past scrutiny. It has been claimed by the Liar in Chief that it will last only four to five weeks. (The conflict in Afghanistan was supposed to last just a few months and America was there for 20 years). This Iranian conflict, when it does not go the way envisioned, not a rhetorical question, what and who will Trump blame? Remember it is not his fault on anything that goes wrong, but he always takes credit for everything when there is a positive occurrence. That is the case even if the event he had nothing to do with. Could this war have been started to divert attention away from the release of the Epstein files, which his DOJ has not complied with the law? It will not be known until all the flies have been released and scrutinized.

It has been over one year since last post. Today, Jan 20, 2026, is the start of President Trumps second year in office of his second (and final) term.

Looking back at, in the minds of many, the disaster of the first year there has been a fixation on the things that voters do not care about while he ignores the agenda that put him back in office.

His approval ratings, even among his supporters has eroded. Three in 10 rate the economy as positive, while 55% believe his policies have made matters worse.

His signature issue--immigration--voters believe he has gone too far in carrying out the ICE raids. The administration touts that the apprehensions are getting "the worst of the worst", but even according to the DHS website that is not true.

Some facts as reported by both government and non-government sources:
He has issued 228 Executive Orders in his first year, with 26 on Day 1, which included the rioters of January 6, 2021. (Reminder: He claims he supports law-enforcement. The exact opposite of what the rioters were doing.)
1.6 million people striped of legal immigration status (so much for the claim that if one goes through the legal process, one is welcome here.)
605,000 deported
66,886 detained by ICE, with an average of 821 arrested every day.
(so much for constitutional protections of due process.)
75 countries were banned from immigration to the U.S. (These are countries that in his words "sh*t-whole", and where people of color are from. Can't have that.)
His tariff policy has added $1,500 to household expenses, with the tariff income of $287 billion, not the trillions he claims. (Also: where is the $2000 rebate check that was supposed to be given? Hint: there will never be one.)
Two final statements. First, his claim that he has ended eight wars or conflicts is another false claim. A couple that he claims to have ended never existed. He also has launched 658 air and drone attacks with dubious claims. Second, opened 2.5 million square km for ocean drilling. (just wait for the natural disasters which will occur in the future because of this shortsighted policy. Remember the earlier mention of cutting the federal workforce of people which will handle a natural disaster. But of course, he is never responsible.)

This will be a short posting referencing a recent posting by a MAGA supporter. It deals with an interview with Prez elect Trump and Fox News opinion host Sean Hannity. Mr. Hannity asked then candidate Trump about being a dictator. Mr. Trump stated (paraphrase) "Only on day one for one day." This caused a lot of concern by individuals worried about our state of democracy. There have been polls taken that many on the right would not mind a more authoritarian president.
The response by the MAGA supporter was "And only your opinion on what he meant when he said dictator on day one." In Mr. Trumps own words from the ghost-written book "Crippled America: How to Make America Great Again: "I tell the truth. I'm not afraid to say exactly what I believe." (Chapter 9, paragraph 1)
This statement should be a concern to everyone.

The "Show" is about to begin. Currently the prequel is starting with the nomination of, in the opinion of many, not qualified individuals to lead cabinet departments. There is also the statements made in a public forum what these individuals plan to do with the departments they have been nominated for. It will be interesting to watch the Senate confirmation hearings and what questions the Republican senators will ask of the nominees. Will they be a rubber stamp or will some vote against the nominee?
A Chinese expression is: May you live in interesting times. The answer to that is--

12/17/2023

It has been an interesting year politically. For the first time in U.S. history a former President has been indicted on a total of 91 felony counts, and has been found liable in a civil matter for defamation and r**e.
Also there is a political inquiry into the current Presidents alleged financial improprieties although, at this point, there has not been any evidence to support that claim.
The main backdrop for all this is in less than one year there will be an election with most observers predicting a rematch between these two.

08/05/2023

It will be interesting to read the take by MAGA supporters in light of the currently three indictments, and possibly four if Fulton County Georgia moves forward. In the past there has been denial while not having any rebuttal to any of the evidence, but just dismissive rhetoric.

This post will deal with another exchange from a MAGA supporter and the disinformation the individual believes and spews.
It started out with a post about Biden having and releasing documents that everyone agrees he should not have. The quibble is that the MAGA supporter is trying to put what Biden did equal to what former President Trump did.
The first (erroneous) statement the MAGA supporter claimed was: "...he didnt have the power to declassify them he was vice president." That is true, but no one has claimed that Biden, when he was VP, did declassify any documents. This is contrary to what former President Trump did, claiming documents were declassified when there is no evidence, except in his mind, that they were.

Another statement made by the MAGA supporter was: "He's (sic) been out of office for two years and they're still trying to get him anyway they can to make it so he can not run again. LOL" Trump has been out of office for two years and the House Select Committee was trying to find out what events led to the insurrection attempt on January 6, 2021. "They" were not out to "get him", but to find out the facts. (sidenote: the MAGA supporter has not read or even looked at the report, which would decrease the individuals ignorance.)

A third misstatement was: "Every President for the last 40 years has taken classified documents...also including Obama." Bret Baier of Fox News on Friday August 12, 2022 refuted this. The action that Obama did followed the legal process. NARA released a press statement on the same day rejecting Trumps claims that Obama mishandled 30+ million documents. Excerpts of the statement: NARA assumed exclusive legal and physical custody in accordance with the PRA. NARA moved approximately 30 million pages of unclassified records to a NARA facility in the Chicago area where they are maintained by NARA. Former President Obama has no control over where and how NARA stores the records of his administration.

The final, and perhaps most ignorant statement made was: "He (Trump) and his attorneys were cooperating with them, but they have to raid him!" That is not accurate or true. The ex*****on of the search warrant [it was not a raid] was done after many attempts to get the documents requested, Trump ignoring a subpoena, and claiming that all documents had been returned. It was done, one might say in desperation, to get documents which did not belong to the former president, to their rightful place.

In the past two days the question has been asked "What did Trump do to incite violence?" The individual who posed the question has not been paying attention to the Select House Committee hearings. Being a Trump MAGA supporter, this person wishes to remain ignorant of any facts that have come to light.
In the weeks preceding the January 6, 2021 rally former (emphasis) President Trump tweeted for his followers to come to D.C., with part of that tweet stating "It will be wild." In court cases, where the multitude did come and were charged with a crime, many stated that they were following his directions. There have been a few that have been sent to prison for as many as 11 years.
One tired refrain the MAGA supporter uses is a "what-about-ism." The individual tries to equate comments made by Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) the same as Trumps statements and actions. The individual should produce evidence that what Rep. Waters stated lead to violence by an angry mob whose purpose was to delay the certification of a free and fair election, and put former President Trump back in office. In other words, to overthrow the government. That is the difference between the two calls for action. A prediction on a response to this post. (The MAGA supporter will not cite any evidence to bolster the claim that it was a peaceful rally that got out of hand, or will, as has stated previously, the false belief it was ANTIFA.)
Finally, on Friday Dec 23, 2022 in a news segment on Fox News Channel, David Asman from Fox Business made two statements comparing the Biden vs the Trump. He stated that inflation was 1.4% during Trump, and that there was 6% growth. On the 1.4% figure he was correct for 2020. However, using the same year for growth he was completely wrong. There was a 3.4% decline in GDP. One would have to add the years 2017, 2018, and 2019 to come closer to the 6% figure. (source: BLS)

This posting will be an update of events in the past two weeks. First, State of Arizona has called the governors race for Hobbs, and certification will be on Monday Nov. 28. However, defeated candidate Ms Lake has not conceded and is claiming irregularities occurred. Her campaign has filed a lawsuit against certification, but, according to news reports she has not presented any evidence to back up the claim which might/ could change the outcome. It is more wishful thinking than anything else or to keep the base supporters energized. (sidenote: there is speculation that Ms. Lake is doing this for pure political purposes. With the announcement of former Prez Trump announcing another White House bid, she is angling for a spot as the VP candidate.) Also called is the re-election of Mark Kelly to the Senate.

In other political news, California has elected Republicans to the House of Representatives, which are flipped seats. This will give, along with the changes in New York, the House a slim majority to Republican control.

The interesting events to watch after January 3, 2023 will be how (and if) Republicans will govern, who will be Speaker, and any legislation proposed. If the mid-term election campaign ads are an indication of legislative agenda, Republicans will only do grandstanding events. Investigations into officials in the Biden Administration, along with President Biden's son Hunter, who is a private citizen and has no official or unofficial duties.

In the past few days there has been news reports about the Select January 6 committee and the emphasis on the role that former Prez Trump played while ignoring other aspects of the events. Other news reports have Trump losing more cases in court. One recent decision was the Select Jan 6 committee gets access to his tax returns, and in the Georgia election interference case, Trump accolades (i.e. Sen Graham of South Carolina) have been compelled to appear.
Finally, there will be another posting quoting comments about how elections, from the viewpoint of the writer, should be conducted in the next few days.

11/10/2022

This post will focus on the just concluded Nov 8 election and the 2024 election.
It seems that former President Trump has lost influence among most voters around the country. However, there are still MAGA supporters who do believe that two events will happen. The first is: he will make another bid for the White House, with a possible announcement as early as Nov 15 or 16. (side note opinion: there will be indictments of his activities before and after the Nov 2020 election. which will change the dynamic.) The second is he will actually secure the Republican nomination based upon his perceived popularity by rank-and-file. If the indictments do come, which will be before the end of the year, his only defense is going to be "witch hunt". Most Republicans will have moved on to the current Florida governor DeSantis, again for two reasons. The first is Gov. DeSantis has less baggage than former President Trump, with the second reason being, he is better able to articulate the vision of, what is referred to as, the "far-right". Governor DeSantis who might not be able to stir a crowd the same way former Prez Trump has, still will be a formidable candidate and has the capacity to raise large sums of campaign funds for a primary and national run.

It has been pointed out by both MSM outlets and Fox News that many of the candidates endorsed by Trump have lost. However there are a couple of races which at this posting (Nov 10,2022) are still to close to call. The state of Arizona has two races which could change the outcome of the 2024 election. The balance of power in the U.S. Senate could be determined if Blake Masters overcomes the deficit he has against former astronaut Kelly. If Mr. Masters wins, there will be legislation proposed, under the assumption Republicans control both chambers, to change how elections will be run.

But the more important race is the governorship of AZ. Although former news anchor Kari Lake is behind in vote totals, it is possible she will surge to a victory with the late counted votes. According to MSM reports Ms Lake will not certify the next election if Republicans lose. That will be a sad day for democracy.

The good news for Republican supporters is, as expected, they will take control of the House of Representatives. The main goal of the Republican led House will be bogus investigations of President Biden, his son Hunter and any cabinet member who does not agree with the agenda put forth by Republicans. (side note: what that agenda is was not fully articulated during the campaign.) An historical perspective on Republican investigations was the seven investigations into former Senator and Sec'y of State Clinton. All produced nothing.

Finally, between the week of the 2022 election and the end of the calendar year, as stated earlier in this post, there will be indictments on both federal and state charges. The federal charges will be about incitement to riot, attempting to overthrow the government,
and removing/possessing classified material. The state charges will be from both New York, which is civil in nature, on business practices, including defrauding an insurance company, and Georgia, interfering in an election.
