Weber Fridge

Weber Fridge Community Fridge based in Weber County, Utah The fridge should be built by and for the local Ogden community and, eventually, community-sustained.

Our Mission and Vision:

The mission of the Weber Fridge is to offer fresh and packaged food to any community members who have the need. The Weber Fridge provides a space where community members can place surplus food and/or take donations for their own use. The vision for the Weber Fridge is a community-sustained, frequented space. Community members come and go freely to drop donations or co

llect food. The Fridge Team, as described below, maintains the security and safety of the fridge for the host location and the community. Host/Fridge Location:

The ideal fridge host location is accessible 24/7 and open to all community members. The fridge itself should be outside and plugged in either to an exterior electrical outlet or via an extension cord. If appropriate, the fridge may also be chained and locked to something (like a wooden shelter), but should never be locked to prevent people from accessing it. The space should be unmonitored. The responsibility of the host is ultimately to offer a space where community members are free to access the fridge to drop off or pick up food. The host is not responsible for fridge maintenance or monitoring fridge use. Fridge Team:

The fridge team is responsible for obtaining and placing the fridge in a host-approved location, fridge maintenance and repair, stocking with donations, and weekly cleanings and inspections. The fridge team will also work with local community members and organizations to maintain the sustainability of the fridge, such as collecting financial or food donations. Finally, the fridge team will also work toward making the fridge as accessible as possible, both physically in location and by raising awareness in appropriate community settings. Importantly, the community fridge and team is not managed by the local government, churches, or other large organizations that may utilize the church to promote their own means.

There’s something grounding about making food together.

Chopping, stirring, laughing… sharing what we have.

This Sunday, we’re gathering to prep meals for Weber Fridge — and then sitting down to eat together, potluck-style.

Bring a dish to share and join us.

There’s a place for you at the table.

Sunday, May 3 | 3:00–6:00pm

Please don't leave cardboard boxes at the fridge. Take them with you. We really don't have room for them in the trash cans.
📦 🚫
Por favor, no dejen cajas de cartón junto a la nevera. Llévenselas con ustedes. Realmente no tenemos espacio para ellas en los botes de basura.

Can I have a pizza your time? 🍕
USARA (USARA) and Sizzling Platter Little Caesars were April's community partner for Weber Eats, where everyone gets free food with no stigma!
More than 50 pizzas, tons of cupcakes, and a whole lotta love, served by awesome members of the fridge and USARA.
Folks were lined up since 10 to get the much needed backpacks and supplies from USARA, and then they stuck around for food and our Really Really Free Market.

Utah Support Advocates for Recovery Awareness is there for folks who are working on recovery-whatever it means for each individual- in a way that truly aligns with the Fridge's mission of "no stigma". Everyone eats! There is no shame in needing support!

USARA envisions a Utah where the recovery community and connection are recognized as the most valuable assets for people to recover from addiction.

To anyone who is in recovery, in active addiction, or has been impacted by substance misuse, you've got a place at the fridge and at USARA. 🫶

A cut above the rest! Judy from Lost Texan BBQ has made community engagement a core part of the business. Lost Texan BBQ showed up for our fridge member volunteers to make us the most delicious food, just as a "thank you". There has never been a more scrumptious expression of gratitude. 🙂‍↔️🙂‍↔️
They have generously given food at events, directly to the fridge, or just on their own when they can.
I would show you a plate of the food (green beans, toast, coleslaw, brisket with the fat that melts in your mouth, housemade sauce, and texas sheetcake) buuuuut I ate it with so much excitement that I forgot to take a picture. 🤤🤤
If you have a chance, stop LOST TEXAN BBQ to thank them for thanking us. You'll thank yourself later!

If you have a restaurant and would like to coordinate feeding the community like Judy does, please email us at [email protected] 💕
