North Daviess Community Growth Alliance Façade Grant Program
By Staff Reports
The North Daviess Growth Alliance met with the Odon Town Council during its regular monthly meeting to discuss a proposed façade grant program designed to enhance and revitalize the downtown area.

The council was been asked to contribute $10,000 to help launch the initiative. The funding would be used as a 1-to-1 matching grant program for local business owners, encouraging investment in storefront improvements with the goal of increasing downtown foot traffic and overall economic activity.

Alliance representatives emphasized that the initiative is intended not only to improve downtown aesthetics, but also to demonstrate how targeted funding can serve as effective seed money for broader community development. By matching local investment dollar-for-dollar, the program aims to encourage business owners to take an active role in upgrading and modernizing their properties.

Similar façade grant programs have been successfully implemented in nearby communities, including Washington, where downtown revitalization efforts have led to visible improvements and increased activity.

The program was approved and will provide Odon business owners with an opportunity to enhance storefronts, strengthen the downtown business district, and support long-term community growth.

“Odon is a town with a rich history that can be traced back to pre–Civil War times, and this monument serves as a reminder of Odon’s history and the broader history of this country. “

Brenna Coleman, arts administration student, reflects on how a course researching Odon’s Lincoln statue connected research with community history.
