It’s almost time for one of our favorite Daviess County traditions! The first game of the season brings the Washington Hatchets and North Daviess Cougars together under the Friday night lights — and this game is about more than football.

It’s a night to celebrate and honor our service men and women — past, present, and future. 🇺🇸

🏆 AND THE COMMANDER’S TROPHY IS CURRENTLY IN ODON!

North Daviess won the game last year, so the trophy is sitting right here at Odon VFW Post 9627. And we have every intention of keeping it here! 😉

🏆 WE DID IT — ALL-AMERICAN & ALL-STATE! 🇺🇸

We’re incredibly proud to announce that Odon VFW Post 9627 has earned BOTH the VFW All-American and All-State Post Awards! 🇺🇸👏

But what do those awards actually mean?

The All-American Award is a national VFW recognition for Posts that demonstrate exceptional leadership, teamwork, membership growth, and participation in VFW’s core programs. To earn All-American, Posts must meet a number of requirements, including reaching at least 101% membership, participating in Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen, supporting VFW’s Veterans & Military Support programs, participating in the VFW Day of Service, reporting community service throughout the year, and purchasing Buddy Poppies.

The All-State Award recognizes Posts that go above and beyond for their Department and their communities. The requirements include maintaining strong membership, participating in VFW programs, supporting special projects, completing required reporting and audits, and remaining in good standing.
