🌟 Day 2 of APPM 2026! 🌟

The Basin Lighthouse team is together in San Antonio, ready to learn, connect, and bring new energy back home to the Permian Basin! 💙
Today began with the Opening Plenary and Keynote, “Starting a Prevention Movement” by Jake White, reminding us of the power of creating substance-free connection, positive experiences, and meaningful opportunities for young people.
Prevention is stronger when we show up together, grow together, and continue leading the way through education. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn alongside prevention professionals from across Texas and bring fresh ideas back to the youth and families we serve.

🌟 Day 1 at APPM 2026! 🌟

Basin Lighthouse Prevention is in San Antonio, Texas, attending the 2026 Texas Annual Prevention Providers’ Meeting: Charting the Course — Journey to a Healthier Texas.

Today, our team is connecting with prevention professionals from across the state, gaining new tools, and strengthening the skills needed to better serve youth, families, and communities in the Permian Basin.

We started Day 1 learning more about meeting facilitation and how to create spaces where voices are heard, ideas grow, and meaningful change can begin.
As we travel this journey, we are reminded:
✨ Kindness doesn’t always have to be seen to make an impact. ✨
Sometimes it is the quiet encouragement, the shared knowledge, or simply showing up for one another that makes the biggest difference.
We are grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and continue lighting the path toward a healthier Texas. 💛

This Memorial Day, as we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives for our freedom, we’re also reminded that protecting our community starts right here at home.

In the Permian Basin, substance misuse, mental health struggles, and impaired driving continue to impact families, youth, and entire generations. Prevention is more than education — it’s saving lives before tragedy happens.

Every conversation matters.
Every safe choice matters.
Every young person who feels seen, supported, and valued matters.

This weekend, let’s remember:

💙 Keep medications secured
❤️ Talk openly with youth about peer pressure and substance use
🤍 Choose connection over isolation

According to Texas youth prevention data, va**ng and alcohol remain some of the most commonly reported substances among teens, showing why early prevention and community support are critical. Together, the Permian Basin can continue building a safer, healthier future for our children and families.
