When endeavoring to do something that has never been done, you must be prepared for the push back. Not all will be excited about you attempting to provide a service to those most in need but as I often say when thinking about service:

When others won’t, serve
When others say you shouldn’t, serve
When obstacles come, serve
When the path is rocky, serve
When you feel like you can’t, serve
When you fail, serve
Serve, Serve, Serve

*it is not illegal or unethical for a board member to create a service for the community. The truth of the matter is, for those of us who are elected to serve, service is what we do. It shouldn’t be shocking to see that outside of our board service, we create other avenues to continue the service. It’s why we chose to run in the first place, at least for me it is. Just thought I’d add that for anyone who may be wondering.
