Healthcare does not recognize race, religion, or geography. When someone walks through our doors, whether into a clinic or an emergency department, we deliver care without judgment and without regard for what they can afford. Our calling is to heal, to protect, and to serve the most vulnerable among us. Any effort to undermine this principle or those who uphold it is a travesty: an unacceptable attack on our shared humanity and on the profession to which we have devoted our lives.

On Jan. 24, 2026, Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a critical care nurse in Minneapolis, was killed in an incident connected to immigration enforcement. The death of a member of the nursing community is a solemn occasion affecting us all.

Gratitude. A beautiful expression that feels equally special by the giver and receiver. The stress and effort required to create the perfect holiday gathering can overshadow the sentiment of thanksgiving. But when the opportunity arises to abandon the chaos and give of yourself in the most primitive form of the word, there is no denying the feeling of gratitude. The words time, talent and treasure are powerful when put into practice. May we all remember the gifts we have been given are more precious when we share them. Our last day of clinic is upon us. Please keep us in your thoughts as we complete a successful week of improving lives, one person at a time.

Yesterday was the first delivery day! Rivets, straps and pads completed the fabrication process for each set of orthotics that went out the door. No matter how tired we are when we get to this day, seeing the kids and interacting with their beautiful spirits is a better pick-me-up than the strongest espresso! And this day was even more special because not only did we deliver braces, we delivered brand new hand-sewn bibs, made by some amazing and talented ladies from TX. We are still working long hours each day and ask for your thoughts as we continue our clinic this week to improve lives, one person at a time. 💜

Yesterday was a full-circle moment. Dino returned to his Ortho tech years of pulling plastic and Giovanni learned the skill for the first time. Julio had the talent to give a refresher and new user lesson all at the same time! The end of the day showed a remnant pile of hard work and tons of heart! Tomorrow is another day to improve lives, one person at a time. 💜

I want to pause during our clinic to express my deepest gratitude to our supporters and clinic sponsors—Westminster Pharmaceuticals and Water Genius of Tampa. These two companies not only demonstrate a tremendous commitment to their local community, but they also carry that compassion across borders to make a meaningful impact abroad.

Their support strengthens our humanitarian mission. Without their partnership, the work we do for these children would be significantly more challenging. When we come together as a community, we create real, lasting change.

Every child deserves the opportunity to defy the odds and experience a better quality of life. Because of companies like the ones we celebrate today, we are able to make that hope a reality—and leave a long-lasting impact on the lives we touch.
