The Big Bend Trip for UTPB Geology classes is coming up this weekend. We'll be out there from Friday to Sunday.

For those preparing for it, keep in mind that thunderstorms are expected on Saturday April 23, and depending on where you are the park temperatures will range from 80s and around 90 during the day to 60s and 50s at night. So pack accordingly.

Hey, WTGS is next week. wednesday and Thursday 9-5. And Friday 9-12. It is a conference for geologists in the midland/odessa area. the geology club is selling minerals at the conference and we need volunteers to work. Its in downtown midland at the convention center. . If you can make it that will be awesome. there are going to be alot of different companies there and you can also go and watch the presentations people are giving. Business casual attire and be on your best behavior. Please contact the officers so we have a list of the people who is able to work.

This week for Geology Club.
On Tuesday April 7th, in the Mesa Building Lobby, the club mineral sale is running from 9 am to 6 pm.
On Wednesday April 8th, the club meeting will take place in IT 113 at 5 pm. Officer Elections will be run this meeting.
From Friday to Sunday, April 10th through 12th, students will be working out on the Mammoth Dig.

At the last Geology Club meeting, on March 19th, we discussed that elections for club officers will take place at the next club meeting, which will be on Wednesday, April 8th, at 5 pm in Dr. Emily Stoudt's classroom (IT 113) after her class. This will be the same week as and the day after the next club mineral sale, Tuesday, April 7th.
Also during the meeting on March 19th, a sign-up sheet was created for upcoming events: volunteering for the mineral sale (the one stated before, from 9am to 6pm), volunteering for the Big Bend trip (April 17th – 19th), and one for those interested in helping on the Mammoth Digs (April 10th – 12th). If anyone wishes to be added to the list, or just wants to learn more information, please contact a current officer.
Other business of the meeting had been the club and department’s participation in the GSA Conference in Stillwater, OK, via graduate students Matthew Boggs, Gloria Reade, Lydia Roundtree, and Danette, as well as the Summer trip to the Utah Dig Site, in the Morrison Formation.
